Re: Well There We Have It!

At the risk of being rude, can I suggest that we list off the key points of the debate likely to follow? We have numerous discussions where people argue a case based only on part of the facts available. We can do better from this forum; let’s face it we wish to exert influence from in here, so let’s do it together! Therefore, as I read it :

    1) Wrongly supplied parts
    2) Slowly supplied parts
    3) Work lost due to 1) + 2)
    4) Process of doing returns – self costs etc.
    5) Intransigence by suppliers
    6) Heap praise on the sensible ones!
    7) Link to constant spares pricing arguement – if some will write off cock-ups, what does that tell you!
8 – 8) Big stick – for you guys to decide!

Please add anything I’ve missed, then we’re ready to go.

    Regards,
    Chris.

    Steve,
Do NOT put the machine back into service. It thinks it’s already full of water, so the heater will blow pretty damn quick – it’s an immersion type only!!

P/switch number is 1602564, Dave Conway will be able to sort you one out quite promptly.

You could try giving the switch a sharp tap with a plastic screwdriver handle – the contacts may free up – BUT – if they’ve jammed once, they WILL do it again.

Whatever you do, pull the plug first……

    Phil,
T’stat is most likely culprit. Part no. is 2262146-22/4; Dave will be able to price it up and supply for you – probably be Monday though!

£90 for spider and bearing strikes me as a very reasonable price indeed – if this is the first problem you have had in 5 years, it’s worth considering getting it repaired.

If you’re going to replace the appliance I’d go for the Zanussi, but be warned that the dryer section on any combination appliance is vey inefficient and slow – far better to go with a separate dryer, even if only a compact one.

Click on the “shop @” link and it’s easy from there. Dave Conway can advise re fluff filter in the morning.

Thermostats are under the rear cover of the machine, bear in mind that the safety trips for a reason, so –

    1) Make sure the channel through the door is defluffed.
    2) Make sure that the condensor baffle (The big aluminium plates) is defluffed – shower head/garden hose is very good for this.
    3) Don’t open the door half way through the cycle to see how they’re doing – set the knob to “cool” or the last 10 minutes for a couple of minutes first.

    Always pull the plug first.

    Regards,
    Chris.

Can’t condone your behaviour Kippax, although we probably all sympathise with you.

If you’ve still got the old bulb, stick up a piccie, as we too have contacts, and the next person may be luckier!

    Stuart,
To solve this the drain pump will almost certainly have to be removed and stipped to find the obstruction. Owing to the design masterpiece which is the Indesit dishwasher, it has to come out of the housing and EVERY body panel has to removed in order to get the undertray off. 🙄 Then, one screw will allow the drain pump to be removed…….

Seriously, I’d get some help; it is an extremely awkward one to solve and even I don’t like doing them, and I’m a professional!

Check the Directories section for a local UKW engineer or pop your post code up here and someone will pick up on it.

You can order direct from Bosch on http://www.bshappliancecare.co.uk

Fan nut is a left hand thread, 🙄 apart from that make sure you’ve cut the power.

    Good luck,

    P/no 096825, listed at £69.56 + VAT + P&P from Bosch.

Theoretically a screwdriver job, but the oven will have to come out – it’s bl@@dy heavy!

    Julian,
This doesn’t make sense. The machine uses an air pressure water level control system, so theoretically it can’t overfill, even if it reaches a drain sequence, followed by a refill. Even if it did, this would flood the undertray and activate the flood protection system.

Therefore, the machine must be losing water through the door seal, or the level control is faulty.

You say that you have had someone to look at the machine; frankly what he has told you cannot be true. I would suggest that a check in the Directories for a UKW engineer might be your best option, either that or send for Bosch. They do know their stuff, and it would certainly be cheaper than replacing what is a good quality appliance.

    Penguin45.

Dave_Conway will able to help you in the morning.
In the meantime, please find the “E.nr” number, which should be on the rating plate – this is crucial to identifying AEG components.
