Re: Ariston Margherita 2000 – I also have a problem!

Ariston Margherita 2000 is a generic for a range of machines, the specific model number would be a help – right lower corner of control panel ie A14..

Most of these machines have a removable cross piece on the rear of the tub. If it’s aluminium, there is a bearing kit available. If it’s cast iron, you’re supposed to replace the cross piece. Expensive.

The bad news bit is that the stainless tank is a sealed unit. If the drum support has broken an arm, you will need to replace the whole sheebang.

Or, as you have suspected, the whole machine………… 🙄

    Luck and regards,

I’d hang fire until you’ve got your new belt fitted before complaining. As Kevin pointed out, if it has stretched it’s just a little maintenance job. Any machine will need a bit of TLC from time to time.

F13 is a failure of the thermistor (or temperature sensor) on the dryer. Part required – Dave Conway will be able to help in the morning.

If you are not confident in your own abilities, engineer time. Check in Directories for a local UKW engineer, or pop your post code up and someone will pick up on it.

Whatever you do, pull the plug first.

Drill a couple of recesses behind the outer race, then apply Birmingham screwdriver.

Thermistor failure on this particular machine would come up as an error code on the display. The component would have an assigned value and operating range, so most unlikely that there is an alternative.

If the dryer is selected, does it do anything at all – you should at least hear the fan running, the drum should be turning, pump cutting in and out etc.

If nothing at all, I would be more inclined to the digiboard playing up – they are absolutely notorious in the trade. The dryer is a high current application and the boards are famous for burning out joints!

Something to think about, anyway. If you’re going to have a look yourself, Pull The Plug First!

    Re: Penguin got his…

OK, so it started off as a flight of fancy in the General Trade forum and now it’s reappeared in here.

The original “Vision” post was knocked off in about 20 minutes in the usual Penguin “I can see it all” fashion, and personally I didn’t think it’s a bad picture of where it could end up. I even managed to put in something about DASA ending up as “the oversight body it should always have been”. Sorry, still haven’t figured out how to look at 2 threads at once.

I suppose it all comes down to how our 2 bodies are going to pan out. UKW is very dynamic, talks a lot, there’s something for our members to look at just about every day. Most of the membership gets a free peek at the site, some choose to subscribe and get a bit more and those who can’t shut up end up in this particular layer of the onion.

DASA by comparison seems to be very static, occasional snippets come out or get argued about in the forums (see this weeks shinnanigans for instance). As a very simple “for instance”, you don’t even have to log into UKW to get an idea of what’s going on – the XML side bar rolls over and you can see if anyone’s posted – especially if it’s relevant to something you’re interested in.

DASA as an oversight body represents perfect positioning IMO; let’s have a regulatory body that’s on our side before the government plonks something on our heads; obviously UKW as the working engineers will have to have a corporate membership which we all contribute towards.

I can’t work this all the way through without some hard facts. UKW membership is now over 1500. I REALLY do wish we could identify the proper trade membershp from the great unwashed….. What is the current count? I had a snippet that DASA stands at 130 members, if true pretty damning about the current state of affairs. What’s the national count – 30/40k fixers? What is the repair business worth as a marketplace?

Give me something to work with and I should be able to cook up a more thorough outline than the original “Vision” – after all, 4 beers and a large Jameson’s do not a quantified, researched post make.

Re: A Special day for Bosch ????

    Tony,
Your WTA2000 has come all the way from Brighouse and is in fact a White Knight in a posh frock!

The good news is that this will almost certainly be a thermostat (there are two control stats as well as the safety) or heater failure, the parts are very resonably priced and easily available.

Check in the Directories section for a local UKW engineer, or pop your post code up here and someone will pick up on it.

Can’t tell you much about the fridge, one of the lads will be able to advise you.

Whatever you decide to do, pull the plug first!

Did I say energy? I said Efficency. This can include energy, I just added Service as well. Logical conclusion to the general point of the thread; that if you buy a cheapie, you get poor service – I’ve just put it on the box!

    Like I said – BAD Penguin! 😈

Problem we’ve got here Jim is that the manufacturers will not generally make the fault code information freely available. There are a couple of Brandt service agents on the site – they may be able to advise more fully. The progressive nature of the failure does rather point to the electronics, but I think a spot of pro help now required.

    Hi Billbro,
Don’t we wish we could get rid of the OOB circuit…… Sorry, it’s an integral part of the digital control board.

It can be caused by inadequate belt tension, filter not spotlessly clean and one or two other strange things. The board itself can do the OOB on a nuisance basis, the only solution is to replace the board.

If you can post the model number (behind filter cover – M3…) Dave Conway will be able to give you a price which will probably be terrifying in relation to the purchase cost of the machine. 😥

Not all that positive I’m afraid, but regrettably not the world’s greatest machines.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.
