It’s about the life cycle of the machine.
A real cheap and nasty budget job may have a destruction cylce as low as 600. 600 washes and that’s your lot as far as the design life is concerned. It rises with price/brand and possibly ethics of the producer.

Sorry Mike,
Whirlpool head on… Yup, SMEG with Eaton timer. I think I’d start by chasing the neutral round the machine. Drain pump out of circuit will stop it filling – wiring at the door pivot can be an issue. If that all checks out, I suppose the timer is the only option left.

ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP 8112 – Door not opening
It’s a “turn over” mechanism. Look into the slot at the top of the door and you should see two fingers or blades pointing at you. When these hit the wire loop, it should flip round 90 degrees to lock the door and work the master switch. It’s a known weak spot – replacement is your easiest option.
It’s HERE; not particularly expensive.

Mmmm – not really. Might be worth googling Quality Electronic Repairs and seeing if there’s anything they can do. Don’t get your hopes up too high.

Pump is £38 from Masterprt – a bit better.

Flow meter failure won’t stop it filling. It might time out or it might flood. Inlet valve is most likely culprit. Think 10 year old Indesit – it’s the same machine, just worse; so you need a single coil, straight through valve if you really feel that you have to fix it.

ParticipantRe: Tried to advertise with a local directory
It’s really very simple. I promise you, advertise in these sort of directories nd you will see no increase in business. Been there, done that, teeshirts…..
The simplest, cheapest and best way to get your name out there is to do a good job at a fair price and leave your customer three or four business cards. They will pass them on. It’s a slow burn, but it’s effective.
If you’re working a nice little cul-de-sac and you’ve got five minutes to spare, shove a business card through every letter box. People chuck fliers, they put business cards to one side. A few months later…..
And take comfort in the money wasted by your competitor. It’s forcing his pricing up for no reward.
After 17 years, the only advertising we maintain now is a small box in Yellow Pages. This is mainly a courtesy to the little old ladies who lose the business cards. I frequently catch Julia on the phone going,
“Yes, he’s small. Yes he’s got a beard, a bit shaggy….”
Works for us.

Blown triac on pcb for sure – probably shorted when the water leak landed on the valve.

Handle or latch mechanism (probably) broken. Excessive use in opening the door is approved…
