Broken wires to blower motor, heaters; chaffed loom at motor, side of casing; elements down to earth, s/c inlet valve, wind blowing from the south………

As far as the computer is concerned, there isn’t a fault. If you read the article, you will realise that the replacement unit is completely different – it’s a one time fix and you’ll get no more bother with it in the future.

Ignore the goo in the top of the matrix – it’s irrelevant to your problem. We are both suggesting that the machine is not taking in enough water. The water level should be half way up the salt cap in the base of the machine after the fill sequence completes.
The usual reason for the machine to under fill is either the chamber pictured or the hose coming out of the bottom of it getting partially blocked with sludge.
The matrix will unclip and lift away, the pressure chamber pulls up and off with a bit of a wiggle and the bottom hose will simply pull out sideways. See what’s in there, please.

This:

was once a £2 coin. It destroyed a plastic-tanked Servis automatic. We never did find the middle bit.
Anyway, makes a nice keyring.

Right. Remove the l/h side panel, you’ll find this:

The water level should be halfway up the salt cap, if the unit in the picture and the hose coming out bottom right ard full of congealed goo, it will underfill badly, then strange things happen……….
Strip and clean; try again.
Power off first.

Hmm…… Indesit-build perhaps?

When the dial starts clunking round, check the start lamp and see if it flashes in a pattern, ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat. This is an error code and we may be able to work something out from there.

Lift latch on one side, give lid a thump to the rear, then do the other side.

Aha! The good old ‘out of balance’ switch fault. Top deck off, switch attached to the pendulum. It suffers from corrosion and damp as well as rotten wiring. Make sure that the bias spring is attached to the tub whilst you’re in there.
Power off first……….
