ROM on display board is corrupt according to the book – replace display board is the only fix listed. Odd one…

St Patricks Day, yesterday. Local had the Guinness on a £2/pint – lot of people going to have problems in the morning.

Glad you fixed it – well done.

I think EMW will fix the timer on a send it down/send it back basis. Lots of these old tanks still chugging awy round Leeds.

Re: People who don,nt want to pay

Basically, Rob, you didn’t sell your services correctly in the first instance. MrsP (tactfully) and I (un-tactfully on the odd occasions when I’m allowed to use the telephone) make it asolutely clear that you will pay £35 for the first half hour if you want me to turn up at all. Very quickly weeds out the freeloaders…..

Stopper the drain hose and make sure it’s got lots of water in – it’s heavier when you go over the weigh bridge.

Not that I’d ever condone such a practice, of course.

    Re: Teaching Grandma

There was a time when you could look at an electronic machine and say to yourself “What doesn’t it do?”. Full of water? Maybe it’s blocked. Washed for a long time and then faulted? Heater?

Those days are partly gone with the machines faulting on start up with the diagnostic routines. I suspect that this is what scares people. The same principles apply, however. You can still physically check the function of almost all components, eliminating them all one by one until the only one left is the pcb. I still, even with the Book, tend to work that way.

It seems that others don’t. NTCs are a case in point. I have fitted three in 17 years – they do seem to be totally reliable, but people are obsessed with the d@mned things – adv’s current WD12 threads are a case in point. I suspect that he simply doesn’t understand its function.

Re: Bosch Logixx 8 – Heater or Thermostat issue+Conditioner

Heater failure or burnt/broken wiring to the heater are common issues. BSH will sort the problem correctly for you, but, obviously you will pay company prices.

Should you wish to use a local independent, click the “Repairs@” link to the left and enter your postcode for a UKW repairer in your area.

Your code is no drain detected in the time allowed, so, does it actually empty?

Re: bendix washing machine not spinning

Motor or heater with earth leakage can cause no spin problem. If you simply replace the timer unit, the problem will recur and require the timer and failing component will have to be replaced.

Bear in mind that at this point the customer will become “awkward”.
