Re: repairing white goods in spain

A year to repair one machine? 😯 😉 I would have thought there would be equivalent websites to Connect, Washvac etc over there and you just need to do a bit of Googling (assuming you speak Spanish!). It is something I have thought about doing but all the tales of dodgy solicitors etc have put me off buying a property in Spain.

    Re: Mobile phones… continued

I hate mobile phones so I’ve never got properly set up. My phone is a pay-as-u-go O2 one but signal coverage for O2 is quite poor in my area so it would be a waste of time diverting the landline calls. I didn’t buy it, the phone was given to me by a local appliance shop for whom I was doing contract work. I resent having to phone customers on their mobiles as each call seems to cost about 20 times as much as an equivalent local call.

Re: Reporting a fault to BT

Yes, the last time I reported a fault it took that sort of time to get through. I was using the public phone at the hotel next door as I don’t get a signal here on my mobile. It’s just as well I didn’t use the mobile as I would have run out of credit or battery long before I got to speak to someone.

I suggested you post your question at UKW but I now see you already had 🙂

Re: On the other side of the fence. (Long…)

I don’t buy washing machines for my own use but just get one out of the workshop or use one I have reconditioned to try it out. For a couple of years my default machine has been a non computerised plastic tub Indesit (WG1033TG I think). This developed a leak from the rear tub joint which I could not be bothered to fix so I dragged in another working machine, this time a computerised Indesit W103UK. This completed one wash OK but left a puddle on the kitchen floor. I thought the water might have just been from when I was swapping machines so I gave it a second chance. This time I got the familiar spinning of the control knob when it reached the final spin. Inspection revealed that this machine has also got a leak at the tub joint and drips directly onto the motor plug. 10/10 for consistency Indesit 😆

Fortunately, Part P has yet to reach Scotland. 8). I just looked at the Scarf website and found the information I was looking for. Yes, you can use an instant electric shower on the Total Control supply 🙂

Thanks Dave, now all I need to do is find out who owns the appliance. I got back from a week in England and it was stood outside my front door. 🙄

The grey rubber Zanussi ones seem more flexible than the harder red and blue plastic type though 😉

    Re: Hotpoint WMA61

On this one the motor was stuck on the mountings so I ended up taking the drum out with the motor attached. I usually lay the fascia and upper chassis panel on top of the cabinet but with this model the wires seem to get in the way more than on the lower specified WMAs

    Re: Servis M9309 Internal Hose

Thanks, will try that. I’ve usually got a few Zanussi hoses with the special flanged washers missing so I could use one of those. 🙂

    Re: Servis M9309 Internal Hose

Thanks Mike, I’ve never seen this type of hose available by the metre so I will probably just get the proper part.

    Re: Hotpoint WMA61

Thanks Tony, just went back to my workshop, yes it does say X1 on the component side. The numbers I quoted are on the copper side. I looked carefully for scratch marks where the plug had gone but could not make out any, probably because it is quite a loose fit. 🙂
