What did it trip, the cooker mcb or the main RCD? If it was the RCD it might be worth a Megger test on the ring insulation when you fit the new energy regulator.

ParticipantRe: Cheap Printers
My first inkjet printer was a Xerox but it was unreliable and not many places stocked the ink. I actually picked up a factory return one of the same model as it came with unopened inks and only cost about the same as a set of genuine inks. I set it up and it was much faster than the first one, which had been painfully slow.

ParticipantRe: Cheque guarantee scheme ending soon.
I never bothered taking card details anyway with cheques and never had a bouncy one in 14 years of trading. This move does represent the beginning of the end for cheques though and is one of the reasons I’m leaving the trade.

ParticipantRe: Propane Gas Cooker
Thanks. I’m thinking in the short term I might just take the cooker out of my camper van and set that up.

Thanks, I think I have it sussed now and I’m hoping I can use a seal I got for a Hoover machine.

I know they are a pain to work on as the board is buried in silicone but it might be possible to trace the wiring from the pump to a component on the board which reads short circuit. Otherwise you could try QER.

ParticipantRe: Van Insurance no claims discount
Surely the one with the Meriva should not have affected your NCB as your insurer should have claimed from the driver at fault?

ParticipantRe: Zanussi Motor Star washer for tacho
I’ve sometimes used silicone sealant to glue the coil back in and instructed the customer to leave it a few hours before running the machine.

There is not that much to go wrong on these dryer systems. This is a totally Indesit designed dryer assembly, everything goes wrong with these, TOC’s, NTC’s, fans come loose, filters clog, elements fail for fun, they are just C**P.
Jim.
What I meant was, if there is drum rotation, air circulation, air heating, a suitable trickle of water to condense the water vapour and adequate pumping it will dry the clothes. Any of those functions can fail but it’s not rocket science to check them all.Phidom
ParticipantRe: HOTPOINT WDL 520 not drying properly
I’m not familiar with that model but usually the condenser is a plastic moulding that goes from the fan area at the top of the machine to feed into the back or side of the tub fairly low down. In such cases I would remove the condenser and wash it out to remove any fluff.

ParticipantRe: Van Insurance no claims discount
Insurance firms can say whatever they like and there’s nothing you can do apart from take your business elsewhere. This business of having to accumulate NCB on each individual vehicle is a rip-off, pure and simple. It should be a discount for careful drivers, if you drive one van carefully are you going to drive the other van wrecklessly or what?
I just changed my van from a small Vauxhall Combo to an LDV LWB Hightop Convoy. I was charged £200 extra on the LDV, the original premium on the Vauxhall was about £210 so it is almost double 😯 . I queried this and was told it was because the LDV has a bigger engine (2.4 as opposed to 1.3). This seems utter nonsense to me as the Vauxhall is a much faster van than the 3.5 tonne LDV.Phidom

Have you checked for fluff build up in the condenser? There is not that much to go wrong on these dryer systems.
