I don’t have a business account with Abbey but I do have a private current account and a savings one. I also do a lot of online banking and it seems a pretty comprehensive service. The only time I came unstuck was when I tried to pay my combined gas and electric bill online. They sent me a red bill, followed a few days later by a letter telling me they don’t accept online banking. The only snag up here in Scotland is that Abbey have very few branches.

We don’t seem to have Thomson round here but I too have never had satisfactory service or cost effectiveness with Yellow Pages. This year I told them I would just have my free line advert but they say they’ve stopped doing that so stuff them. I will have to investigate getting an ad. in the front section of the BT phone book as no doubt a lot of people will look in there first.

Are you sure Connect do it? I can’t get the search engine to work but can still do the instant ordering if I know the part numbers. This came up with “Product ZAN1321064006 not found”.

Another thing to check is the alignment of the timer to the fascia. I had a Tricity Bendix machine that had been laid down on its front and bent the timer bracket so the knob was catching on the fascia. I’ve been to a few machines where the knob was swimming in congealed cooking oil.

I thought it might just be my system. I changed from Windows ME to WIN 2000 a few days ago and this is one of many things that no longer works. I checked that cookies are still enabled as that can make a difference but it might be something to do with ActiveX (whatever that may be) Unfortunately we don’t seem to have the smilie in which the PC is attacked with a big hammer. :rtm:

Try Abbey, I think they do free banking for business customers.

Since the site sells spares to the public it makes sense to help them work out which parts have failed. I recently had to do a top end engine rebuild on my van and was struggling to find the correct tightening sequence on the stretch cylinder head bolts. My local MoT place has a big book with all this info. for every make of car and they were happy enough to give me the data I needed. If you try to present what we do as a black art you will only strengthen Joe Publics cynical belief that we operate by guesswork, just renewing parts until the machine works. Giving advice is often a thankless task but a few people are polite enough to let you know how they got on with a repair.

Not Christmas related but an elderly customer gave me some power tools he had been given as a free gift when ordering a load of mail order items. There is a drill, an orbital sander and various drill bits etc. Unfortunately he has not yet paid the £86 bill and he’s now in hospital. 🙁

ParticipantRe: Another joke.
Three dead bodies turn up at the mortuary, all with very big smiles on
their faces. The coroner calls in the police to tell them what has
happened. First body: “Frenchman, 60, died of heart failure while
making love to his mistress. Hence the enormous smile, inspector”, says
the Coroner. Second body: “Scotsman, 25, won a thousand pounds on the
lottery, spent it all on whisky. Died of alcohol poisoning, hence the
smile.” The Inspector asked, “What of the third body?” “Ah,” says the
coroner, “This is the most unusual one: Big Seamus Quinn from Donegal,
30, struck by lightning.” “Why is he smiling then?” inquires
the Inspector. “Thought he was having his photo taken.”Phidom

I have now lent the customer another machine and brought hers to the workshop. I have at least found the leak. It only leaks during the fabric conditioner rinse and the water comes from round the small moulding in the soap drawer housing to which the inlet hoses are attached:

Could I seal this to the main mouldings using silicone or could this cause an airlock? On earlier Zanussis the ventilation for the soap drawer is clearly visible but I can’t tell with this one. Water did not drip onto the motor during the test wash but I suppose it might do sometimes, causing the programme to reset.

PS sorry about the huge photo but I don’t know how to shrink them. :con:Phidom

I like the frosted effect on the oven door, very seasonal :rotl:

Can’t you just use the motor part from the new pump and the filter housing from the old one?

8 tonnes. Not impressed by the way they lump cavity wall insulation with loft insulation, meaning most people can’t tick that box. The bit about vehicles also seems to be aimed at US drivers so when you tick estate car it probably puts you down for something like a 4 litre automatic.
