Hello matt, basically they screw the paddle on from the inside during manufacturing and then seal the outer drum pure genius!.
The same sort of thing happens with all sealed drums for example you lose a sock or a bra wire perhaps something out of your pocket if it gets into a awkward spot in the drum the machine usually becomes a very expensive needing a new drum usually its a right off! Where as before we would just split the drum remove offending object and job was done just cost a bit of labour.

I was very impressed how he used his ratchet to knock the heating element bolt in (why did he remove the element and door seal?) or the small bolt to knock the bearing into place using a toffee hammer not even going in to the silicon thing!. The hammer i use is much bigger then his because nearly every single bearing job i have ever done needs a hell of a lot more persuasion.
Oh and another thing right at the beginning did he say the bearings was ok on the machine? anyone can change bearings that don’t need changing. Wait until they have been going for the last few months and then the customer says “i thought it was getting a bit louder” Then show us how easy it is with kids and pets running round the place in a tiny kitchen.
You just know some numpty is going to watch that and think i can do that it is easy!

    Rant over

I heard espares advertising on our local radio station last night on the way home. It just seems there is a massive push to sell spares at the minute.

I know an electrician who got sacked for being asleep (several times) and it took them hell and all to prove it! madness!! Strangely enough he runs his own electrical company now and is quite successful so go figure on that one.
Perhaps he was just not suited to employment?

    Re: A sad tale…

It is a very sad tale indeed i wish him well. But he is lucky to have people like you around to pick him up a good many people have not so well done you.
It is pressurized at times but the ones i feel sorry for are the people who employ people the pressure increases ten fold. All of a sudden there are a lot of mouths to feed and people really depending on you totally different ball game again.

Peter nobody said you did not know what you was doing in fact it was the opposite everyone as praised you up.
I personally said i could not comment on the other engineer because i did not see the job the only thing i was sure of was that the board did not think it was draining quick enough which could of been any number of faults including the board.
There was defiantly no offense intended and i am sorry that if you thought i was having a pop i wasn’t.
I have only been in the trade exactly half as long as you but i am also a fully qualified electrician, gas engineer, refrigeration engineer and having been trained directly by 3 manufacturers and have had 5employee’s work for me (would not do that again it is an headache i can live well without i earn more now then when i employed people).
So i would also take it a bit personal if i thought someone was casting any doubt on my ability. But this was not the case here.

Re: Miele error codes – can you or can you not reset them?

In my personal experience from when i worked there the answer as fidder says is no. As long as the machine senses no fault when it is switched back on then no fault code will be shown. It will be in its memory for engineers to recall but the customer will not see it.

Unless they have changed it on their brand new models ie the ones still under guarantee.

    Hope that helps

Sorry ken i understood the question wrong.
Yes once the fault is cleared the customer will not see the fault again but it will remain in its memory if an engineer decides to recall it.

Re: Miele error codes – can you or can you not reset them?

    Hi k,
Error codes do usually show up it will be like any other machine either a series of lights flashing or the fault code in the display.
As for disposable income i once saw a customer go out and buy a new miele coffee machine at around the £1100 mark because she had to wait a week for us to return with the parts to fix her original machine because she could not wait a week for a coffee! Utter madness and miele customers are usually very loyal regardless of them breaking down or expense they usually have them repaired.

It is great news for me it means i will be able to put my foot down the average speed round theses parts is only about 14mph anyway!

It is just another way to get money pure and simple because if they could not make money out if it i am damn sure they would not do it!
