Think gdha do the service work on them now. Don’t know the part number but might be worth giving them a call if you can not get it elsewhere.

Hi, yes they monitor the load usually via the tacho on the motor to sense out of balance or uneven loads etc, bit of a safety feature to save the machine jumping around the room and causing damage.

Does sound like the selector, but it’s a very awkward call without seeing it.
The way I’m thinking is everything is working ok until you have switched it off so the only thing that you have changed is the position of the selector. If it was the grill element or stat etc then surely they would go when you either switched them on or when in use not when you turned them off. Might be wrong but that is where I would start looking first. As I say a tricky one at best.
Faulty rcd is not that common, you can get sensitive ones, but you would need a proper test meter to determine if it is faulty ie testing it at 0.5, x1 and x5 plus it’s trip time in milliseconds etc then cross check it against the regs etc to see if it is within its tolerance.

Re: Whirlpool AWO D6707 – Spin fault?

Hi, It won’t spin a single woollen jumper by itself a, because it will be out of balance and b, because a woolen programme does not have a high spin.
If it is spinning with a light load try putting a full load in because a light load can also send the drum out of balance, the machine will try and balance the load but if the clothes are altogether and the other half the drum is empty it will struggle to even the load out.
Without seeing it I can not comment if it is pcb fault but I doubt it is. The machine will adjust the time according to the load and if it thinks it as washed it sufficiently enough or spun it correctly etc there are numerous things that will make the machine adjust its time.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers
    Phil.

Hi, perhaps it is an un balanced load?
What you washing / testing in it?

Of course I could accuse them of deception, why couldn’t i?.
When they are saying and listing their trading address which is an old derelict building and as been for the last 15years and prior to that it was a very well known car showroom, so there is no connection with them what so ever, then yes I would say that is deception, could customers call there? Visit the showroom? Drop or pick anything up? Speak to someone directly at the premises? No, so it’s not their trading address is it? It’s just a lie, So they should not be allowed to advertise it as such, it’s false advertising.
I am interested in why you think it is morally ok for the bigger companies to carry on with such practises though.

Think your missing my point Martin, I am not worried over what they or others charge, or the service which they offer I know they simply can not compete!
These companies are now NOT paying for premium listings, They are disguising themselves and listing themselves as a good many of us do as a local based company on google places / maps to get themselves on the first page without paying for that premium listing. They are pretending to be a local not a nationwide service provider and using any means necessary ie listing their business address as an old derelict building or using an engineers home address just so they get themselves on google maps / listings.
I know where your coming from, I just believe that these types of tactics are under handed and deceitful. It’s nothing to do with price or service it is about lying and trying yet another way to deceive customers and put the knife in the “real” local engineers that’s all.

Re: Any one know who this is

Also noticed in my local area indesit and repaircare popping up in google maps and they are defiantly not located there, when you click on the location it’s an old derelict building or just a general area! But they are pretending to be based local! Sneaky! Also heard that domestic and general are asking their agents and manufacturers if they can use the companies engineers addresses so they can also do the same trick! They can’t leave nothing alone thought google maps was there for small local business to put them on the same footing as these bigger companies and I am pretty sure if Google thought they was losing an advertising revenue stream by them blatantly lying they would not be happy.

I hear that they are starting an apprenticeship scheme, don’t know the exact details but apparently it’s 18months and they get a qualification at the end of it. What qualifications I don’t know.
Just wondering if this is what Lee is touching on?
Or perhaps they’ve tried recruiting nationwide and found out its not that easy, so they’ve thought stuff it it is easier to train someone.
I know that people slate know how but if they are trying to bring fresh blood into the industry and give them some formal training then I say fair play to them.

I thought it was good aswell! What with all the bad news and publicity the manufacturer’s having been having lately, withholding information, over charging, trying to sell unnecessary insurance, recalls, exploding machines, fires, deaths etc, hopefully people’s perception of the independent trades will have risen!
Its a step in the right direction for us we just need to capitalise on it just like the manufacturers, sheds and insurance companies would do if the shoe was on the other foot!
I know that we are never going to beat these big companies but if the customer is educated about the practises these companies operate then the better the chance we have got

Tacho generates voltage but only small amount as kwatt says lv. as magnet spins north /south pcb then measures the voltage to determine the speed but it does not produce much current so i can’t see it blowing the track. I would look towards the motor coil and drop your insulation tester across it on its highest setting see what you get, if nothing shows try it and spin the drum by hand as your testing it to see if it throws up anything might be you have a weak spot on your motor

Has anyone attempted to use wheelchair ramp for their work van to load machine onto it rather than hoist it up?

I brought a wheelchair lift for £50 off ebay. Bolted it to the floor of the van, cable back to the battery with a fuse and isolation switch
job done! Lifts 300kg fits me and a machine on it is an absolute god send!!

I visited their 10 acre site before, got to say it i wasn’t that impressed!
They get all the machines from currys they won a 5 year contract with currys it helps currys “offset” the cost of their weee obligations not really sure how that works seeing they’re two different companies with two different sets of obligations! Unless currys are selling them has repairable although the customer said it’s weee. But i was told when there that the profit from selling them offset the cost of currys weee obligations! Just sounded dodgy to me!
Basically the machines come in they’re sorted through and its a plug and play exercise. If they work they clean them up grade them the British heart foundation them has the pick of the bunch and it works its way down hill from there! But they do sell them mainly to the British heart foundation for their shops.
From what I saw there was no real evidence of much in the way of engineers the machines either worked or they didn’t! They had a back to base g’tee if they went wrong take it back they give you another one! The machines was in a poor state even by raw, standards as dented or scratched to high heaven.
