Re: Black Marks on clothes – Hoover HNL7166

yesterday i went to a HOOVER HNL842-80. The customer complained that there were BROWN marks light coloured garments. she said that she had done a series of washes with the usual array of w/machine sleaners, de-greasers flushers on 90c 60c washes. the browm marks wash off when she rinses under a tap. the door seal is marked with the usual mould. she seems to have done all the usual “cleaning/refreshing” programs to no avail. is this a problem with this range of HOOVER w/m. thanks

hi, no result on this one….HOWEVER…i delivered and installed a brand new HOOVER..bolts out, test run all ok…
a couple of days later they complained that the machine was
shaking itself to bits and dancing out of its place. we check that we had done everything that Hoover decreed.. they sent an engineer out and changed the motor..ALL IS WELL!!!

thanks, looks like rock and hard place kind of job.. the part number was on the package holding the hinges and when i checked with my reliable parts supplier he said that he had checked with SMEG and that was the only part number available for hinges for this appliance. can i take it that without the locking pins the jobs cannot safely be done? should i pass the customer onto SMEG?

jim, easy job. top off reveals spring clamp and plug connector. spring removed from cabinet front. old seal off. on refittting there is a “pocket” which slips over a diamond shaped piece of plastic at about 11o’clock. fit this and the new seal is located correctly. refitting the plug connector is easier when a drop of washing up liquid is applied to the rubber. 15mins and includes a coffee, job done

    hi,
had a bad year for van …been with aviva for a while and the
premium was £550. pa. last nov i was hit by a skidding meriva,
then last feb the handbrake failed and the van rolled into
a firm holly hedge..both repairs totalled about £3K. then phone
call from broker..are you sitting down?..the renewal, due on 4th may..£4,000pa!!! taking into account reversing into a pillar bump in 2008 thats 3 claims in three years…oh dear!!!
does anyone out there know of a sensible place for insurance.
i’ve been on some comparison sites and have got a quote for
just under £1200.. bit of a differance.
    thanks

spot on…in one of these just now.. the landlord is appealing so it’s off to a court hearing next month..
ps…if the Small Claims Court (SCC) offer adjudication so
as to come to a mutually aggreeable settlement figure, remember this figure is not likely to be the FULL value of your claim.
    hope this helps

i’ve had a renault trafic lwb for nearly 3 years. i chose it just based on price and the package. BUT…then found out it had a dc115 engine , marked EWR4-CNY and EUR4 -LGV and the road tax is £120.00.
low emmission engine apparently. full pack….c/l..alarm/ imobiliser..a/c…e/w…e/l mirrors, 6 speed box ( which has had all new bearings in it cos it went really rattley!!). also the gear selector dropped off… fixed by my gearbox genius by drilling and fixing a self tapper in!! saved £300 for a new selector arm. when full with diesel i get about 650-700 miles. it pulls really well, good on snow but like most vans poor on ice when loaded up..i had VW transporter before which had great reliability record except for a magic box which which ran everything which failed £800+ for the fix..including a complete service on the injectors. would have another renault trafic or vauxhall, nissan variant, and of course the new VW transporter if i could afford one.

    update on flashing lights
when you choose ANY programme and without pressing any option buttons or the start button, after approx 1 second ALL the spin speed lights and rinse hold light flashes in unison…also the WASH light flashes too..again in unison with the others. the w/m has been switched off over night..no change.. pressing any of the buttons..including start make no
    difference either.
    thanks
