ParticipantRe: Bosch/Neff Not Emptying
paul, as an old colston engineer …boring start to this….there were no “cleaners” then so what i suggest is..put a normal d/w tablet in…soft fairy(green) as recommended by ukw at their seminar, put d/w on the hottest wash programme and let it run. do this 2 or 3 times a year.

jim, seems to me that you are on a slippery slope!!!! decide now or very soon either to pursue this to the bitter end or cut ypur losses and buy new.

ParticipantRe: my oven is completly dead its a diplomat ahy32
as above check the supply, but if there has been a serious fault on the oven go back to the main fuse box, a cooker cicuit should have a dedicated fuse/trip marked on the cover. if not the fuse position should be rated at 30amps. depends if you have the old hardwired fuse or the newer rcd box. 30 amp will be marked on the fuce.trip…you may need a torch to see the numbers/letters

ParticipantRe: Servis – module burnt out
i did replace a blown board, new board supplied by e.m.w who included a little note about the problem of burntout connector blocks. as described above i fitted crimped terminals and all has been well since…this was about 2years ago. 8) this of course will be the note which means i will soon get a call from the customer!

ParticipantRe: Length of manufacturer’s guarantees
re timers and modules…i agree with the above ref to e.m.w. i’ve used them for the passed 8 years and always found tony ,the boss, helpfull and knowledgable. they have moved to a new workshop outside oxton and they continue to provide a really excellant service…if they say they will post an item they do and it arrives as promised the next day. as for timers or modules which don’t clear the fault all you pay is a small return fee ans off course the postage back, highly recommended.

ParticipantRe: Fitting new belt to Hotpoint VTD00 dryer
ive struggled before with all the stretch belts in t/ds. in desperation i ised a length of copper tube about 3 feet long over the motor shaft , put the belt over the tube then fitted the beld around the tub then rotated the tub and worked the belt down to the right position. a slow and tedious way but it works. better than loosening the motor screws, replacing them with longer self tappers, fitting the belt with less tension then screwing the longer screws tight and replacing them with original screws….if you can be bothered…

ParticipantRe: Indesit Domed Torx Pulley Bolts
same for me, after several torx bits failed i was extreemly wary of offering to change the bearings. then i when to fix a machine and the customer was a mechanical engineer. i explained the problem and he used the hammer and chisel method which worked. i have used it ever since without failure. use the chisel to start a groove, two or three good hits to provide a horizontal groove that you can then get the chisel almost vertical to give the b*****st bolt a start to unscrew….faint heart never won a fair lady!!!!
