jim, thanks, ECO is 3 from the left….if it fills ok then can i assume the inlet valve is ok? and i will chase the earth/heater possibility.

hang up…. if a customer swears abusively i do hang up straight away. then ring back about 20 mins later and ask if they have calmed down…if they continue to be abusive then it is definately good night.ps under some clause in the telegraph act it is an offence to swear or use profanities or offensive words or voice threats over the phone.

Re: Cancellation of Contracts Made in a Consumer’s Home

today i had an interview with a TS employee. she impressed upon me that these regs are very important both to protect the customer and the service force. to ignore them is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE! possibly a court apperance and a fine up to £5000.00. and a criminal record if found guilty. her job for the moment is to visit any firm which has been reported to TS for whatever reason and make sure they are aware of and are complying with this legislation. she is a newly appointed compliance person and she will be enforcing. i think that as this legislation is LAW we cannot hope that by ignoring it it will either go away or be changed. has anyone had experience of customers reactin to signing anything like a “right to cancel form” or a “waiver” form…any comment from the trading standards offices around the country…possibly not as this thread has been very quiet.

phidom, i think this is the type of job with the risks of recall on a very expensive part that you might suggest that the customer contact whirlpool. let the manufacturer take the risk…they build and supply and sell them..let them have the lumps now and then.

turbo, went to this one today to check the heater. all ok, no leak to earth, nothing showind on tester….so i ran a cycle and blow me, the thing worked perfectly. i left the customer to run some full wash programes and he says that the machine is running as it should… 😕 😮

i agree with turbo, a note on the invoice can save a lot of misunderstanding in the future. if you guarantee parts AND labour write it. if only parts then a note on the invoice is needed. i know that we as a group are the most responsible guys and i’m sure that we all give a much better customer service compared with many other “service” industries. parts which an be broken or damaged by the customer can cause probs but parts that by their make up are fault prone need to be dealt with on a case by case system…

update, i was that local engineer!!! as refered to in previous notes, i took the left side panel off, cleaned small board to no avail. could not source just the board so had to supply the complete inlet matrix which has the board in place.. fitted it yesterday fault cleared customer happy.. i remembered a similar fault on a diplomat d/w but that was fixed by cleaning the connections on the board..
