    Hi,

Have you checked the obvious things such as water tap turned on, and made sure the door is shut firmly? If so, I think it’ll be a job for a service engineer.

Yes it was a great day and I would like to add my thanks and appreciation to all of you who made it happen. It was a little spoiled for me on the Thursday night as, not feeling well, I wasn’t able to finish even one helping of dessert…. 😥

But on a positive note I’ve just renewed my van insurance through Commercial Vehicle Direct who had the stand there. It’s with Allianz and is £250 cheaper than I paid last year, and £125 cheaper than the quote from Peacock Insurance, also known to UKW members, and who are btw very reasonable for Public Liability insurance. 🙂 So I’ve already recouped the cost of attending. 😆

I’ve been in contact with Steve Haslett from Combined Buying Services who gave the presentation on phone and fuel cost reduction, to see if he can reduce my extortionate BT phone/broadband bill, and will report back in due course.

    Re: Hotpoint Belt Fitting Tool

What amazes me is that anyone would think of designing a belt like this in the first place. It’s not necessary to have it as tight as this as Servis proved when they abolished the jockey pulley in their dryer 30 years ago.

No, it’s Indesit. Probably trying to make life difficult for the independent repairer as usual….:-)

That’s great, thanks Martin. Out of interest, there appears to be a mistake in it. On page 17 ‘Fitting the new belt’ para 2 refers to using the other, cheaper, tool while still giving the part number for the proper one.

Can anybody let me have a copy of the instruction sheet for the proper Hotpoint belt fitting tool 5600266 please?

Exactly; who apart from Gias and possibly Connect in the past would have 10 of those in stock? It was a special order from Qualtex.

Ebay rules may state that but how can they enforce it? Those sort of sites can’t possibly keep anything in stock, and have no need to when you can order it by 3 or 4 pm and get it delivered the next day. I suspect he couldn’t supply it now it’s obsolete, but it might be amusing to order it and see what happens.

Thanks martin. He’s away until 17th; I’ll see if one turns up before then. But does he have it in stock, or does he buy it from Connect when somebody orders one? I suspect the latter….

    Well,

It’s for a friend who lives in the Carribean; the same guy you gave me the Samsung fault codes for; he got the number. He was the building services manager at Kelloggs factory here when he retired so he should have been able to read it….but then again if you ask 10 intelligent professional customers for the model no., how many of them get it right??? Ken’s answer is ‘0’

I’ll get him to have another look. 🙂

Yes that is a shame. They used to be a good company with a very helpful technical guy, who’s name escapes me for the moment, who’d advise on replacement equivalents for obsolete oven thermostats. Now for simmerstats we’ve got to use Ego replacements with their stupid terminal nomenclature which is different for different types of regulator.
