If you have the door open for the fridge the fan will stop so you will not feel any air coming out of the vents in the fridge.

If it has a light switch then you need to press it in to see if air comes out of the vents.

If it has no light switch then you will need a magnet to test the fan.

Normally you need to put the magnet under the display, move it along until the light goes off.

Try a 48 hour defrost as it may have built up too much ice that the defrost cannot get rid of.

Empty the fridge and freezer and turn it off and leave the doors open for 48 hours,

When you turn it back on after about 4 hours it should be back to normal.

If that does not cure the problem then the fan may be faulty.

I know the first port of call is the retailer but the manufacturers like to keep there good name so this is an option.

    Re: Small chest freezer

All products have an expected life and 20 months is a lot less than expected.

The problem is you have to prove it is a manufacturing fault and as it is a mechanical item this is hard to prove and this could be put down to you being unlucky that the item failed.

It is sometimes better to take a more softer approach with the manufacture and say you and your family have always purchased Lec items and on this occasion you have been disappointed with the life of the product and the service you have received.

Ask them if they could look on it sympathetically to restore you and your family’s faith in Lec products but expect to make a contribution towards a replacement as you have had 20 Months of use.

If you get nowhere by being nice I would be surprised as most manufactures like to keep there good name if you go though there customer relations department.

If you take the legal route I do not hold up much hope of you winning your case as it is hard to prove unless you can obtain an indipendent report to prove it is a manufacturing fault.

Let us know how you get on as I have had customers who are lawyers and have still not got anywhere with the legal route.

On some occasions I have been to customers and phoned the manufacturer for them and said to them the appliance has not reached its expected life and I have explained to the customer they have been unlucky as this is rare for this manufacturer to have problems.

In most cases the customer care department have offered to replace the item based on the age of the appliance so if it is 20 months you would have to expect if the life of a small freezer is expected as approx 5 years then you would be expected to pay 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} towards the cost of a replacement.

If it would have been say 14 months then a lot of manufacturers then sometimes use there discretion if it has not been misused and replace free of charge.

If it is 20 Months then the only way is if you try to be nice to the manufacturer and hope they will try to keep the customer happy to get future custom from you your friends and family.

It depends on the model but it will be a fan motor in the freezer faulty or the flap between the fridge and freezer stuck.

If the fan in the freezer is working then it will be the flap.

You can test the fan by pressing the light switch in the freezer as it only works with the door closed when the compressor is running.

If it has an Icemaker then you have to remove the Icemaker to fit a new fan.

The flap you have to access from the fridge side after removing the vent panel at the top of the fridge.

If it has a leak on the evaporator then it would be non repairable.

If it is re-gassed without repairing the leak then it will fail again.

If the leak is small and not detectable then it will last just long enough for the warranty to run out.

It depends if it has a leak or the compressor is faulty.

It could be anything from £100 to £200

    See my last post.

If the compressor is running the PCB ok.

It sounds like the compressor is not pumping or it has lost the gas.

Not a cheep or DIY job.

    Re: beko freezer thermostat

If it has a small PCB behind the Knob it does not have a thermostat.

If the compressor is not running and the freezer sounds silent.

Then it will be a main PCB Fault this may be in a plastic box at the back of the freezer or behind the control panel.

If the compressor is running and hot and freezer is not cooling then it will be the compressor or gas.

Not everyone pays the same price with connect or Qualtex.

It depends on how much you order for the discount you are receiveing.

Try phoning your account manager to see if you are on the best discount.

You can also phone them to see if they can match or better the price if you have seen it cheaper elsewhere.

You see a lot of fridges with dents in the doors.

If you have large screens then you will be seeing lots of cracked screens & you cannot cover that with a fridge magnet.

The television screens and internet barcode reader and internet connected LG fridges sold mainly from Currys about 12 years ago were only on sale for about 8 months and then withdrawn from sale.

Parts were not produced for them as it was only on trial to see if there was an interest in them.

Lots of them had problems and ended up scrapped as the parts were not available.

Customers also complained of not being able to position the fridge so they could watch the TVs, you would have thought they would have thought of that before they bought them.

I had one customer requested could I disable the door alarm so they could leave the door open at an angle to watch the TV

Not the brightest in the bunch as he had not thought about what would happen to the food in the fridge and said he thought it would work alright as supermarket fridges worked without any doors.

I think the manufacturer who brings out a washing machine with only three programs or a fridge with only an on off switch and the temperature preset to the factory optimum temperature will be on to a winner as a lot of customers I speak to like simple and cheap as possible products.

They seem to have purchased more expensive and flashy appliances and found a lot more can go wrong.

LG trialed an American fridge freezer with the barcode reader and built in internet shopping over 10 years ago but nothing much come of it.

I am sure it will come back soon but it only works if you remember to pass the bar code past the bar code reader.

At least you can Google on the screen to see the list of complaints about Samsung fridge freezers when it stops working.

That’s assuming you can connect to the internet on it.

And when you are on holiday you can see if it has stopped working and then worry all the time you are away or come back early.

Then when you get back home you may just find its working ok but the internet has gone down.

I can remember when LG started fitting TV screens in the door and having to write a fridge off because the TVs screen was cracked and a replacement was obsolete this was when it was a showroom model in CURRYS and had not even been sold.
