    Re: Daewoo FR-4501K Thermostat

The thermostat fits to the dial, the wire you can see senses the temperature and feeds into a small tube in the insulation.

You need to test the thermostat across the electrical terminals on the stat to see if is making a circuit.

The metal wire you can see just pulls out but test the stat first before you pull the wire out and make sure the new stat when you fit it the wire gets fully pushed in the same length as the old one.

Go carefully pushing the wire back in as if you bend or break the wire you will loose the gas in the wire and the stat is then no good.

If the appliance is not cooling check to see if the compressor is hot.

If it is hot and running then it will be the compressor or gas.

If it is cold and not running it is most likely the stat as this is a basic model.

Make sure it is unplugged from the mains when testing or fitting a new stat.

    Re: WTA 2017 conference

I agree the meetings are unmissable and there is lots of advantages to attend.

I finished all contract work and deregistered from VAT in April and I am fully retiring at Christmas.

I will be able to let you know the results from my experiment of not carrying out contract work and if it made any difference to profit.

I will still be attending in February for pleasure reasons and to meet up with the friends I have made at the meetings.

Brian can mark me down for the buffet and I will be booking the Hotel on Monday.

There are lots to be gained extra work, deals on parts and freebies to be had plus keeping up to date with what is happening in the trade.

Plus the good time to be had on the evenings if you can stay.

    See you all in February

It sounds like the cooling fan that should run for awhile after you turn it off may be faulty or jammed so it cuts off on the thermal cut out.

The buzzing sound sounds like the Compressor has seized making it BER. ( beyond economical repair )

Leave it off for 24 hours with the doors open to let the compressor cool down.

Turn it on again and see if the compressor starts when it has cooled down.

If it still buzzes then it looks like it’s time to get a new fridge.

On the Fault code guide this is what the code E9 is listed for the fault.

I can on suggest you phone the service number in the booklet to ask what fault E9 stands for on your model

This appliance looks like it is a BEKO and E9 is an Icemaker fault try resetting the Icemaker it should be in the installation instructions in your booklet

This looks like a fault code try turning the appliance off for 15 minutes turn it back on if it still shows E9 then you have a fault with the appliance and E9 will be the code for the type of fault.

It will need a photo of the old stat with the wires connected to it and a picture of the new stat to advise.

How many wires is going to the old stat is it 2 wires plus an earth.

Most repairers would want to supply the compressor as they would not be able to guarantee the part if you supplied it.

How do you know it is a compressor fault as the most common fault on this model would be the PCB not turning the compressor on.

If it is the PCB then when a new one is fitted it has to be programmed.

Most likely the thermal fuse or defrost sensor in the freezer is faulty.

    Re: Diplomat APM6855-1

    The Diplomat is better.

Empty the fridge and freezer, turn it off and leave the doors open for 48 hours / 2 Days.

When you turn it back on after 4 to 6 hours it will work ok again.

If the problem returns after 6 to 8 weeks it will need a new defrost sensor.

If it does not work ok after the 4 to 6 hours the fan will be the fault.

It is well worth trying to keep the Diplomat if you are looking to replace it I would go for a GORENJE.

The pre cooling tank in the fridge section may be frozen.

Defrost the tank in the fridge behind the veg draws in the fridge and it will most likely work but you may need to buy a new panel in the fridge as the insulation may be breaking down.

Re: Maytag American Fridge Freezer GC2228eedb

You will need to take off the kick plate at the bottom to disconnect the water pipe to the freezer side door.

Then take the covers off on the top hinges disconnect the wiring to the freezer door then remove the top hinges to remove the doors.

Go carefully when lifting the freezer side door off the bottom hinge not to break the water pipe as this feeds through the bottom hinge.

If you break the pipe then it would mean you would have to buy a new door as the pipe is foamed into the door.
