Thermal cut out or timer fault.

Check the thermal cut out to make sure it is not open circuit first if is ok then it is the timer.

The solenoid looked like new not seized but just did not work.

A new solenoid was about £23 plus vat so it may save a return visit.

    Re: Lamona HJA6110 ice dispenser

I had to replace a faulty flap solenoid on this model a while ago.

If I remember it may have 2 screws underneath where the water comes out in the dispenser.

The screws need to be taken out first then just lever of the display surround carefully with a flat screwdriver starting at the bottom then work up the sides.

Go carefully as the display is not one piece but 2 and is joined with 2 screws from behind but it removes in 1 piece.

If no screws are visible underneath where the water comes out of the dispenser then it just levers off.

When you put the display surround back on it just clips on so you have to hit it with the side of your hand around the edges to clip it back on.

    Hope this helps

It may have a blockage in the capillary tubes on the changeover valve to the fridge.

Or the change over valve may be faulty.

The freezer still runs as the fridge sensor is not getting cold enough to turn the fridge freezer off.

Why did you need to Regas the system?

The fault you have sounds like the the refrigerant system is blocked if the condenser at the back is not warming evenly.

When it does not cut back in is the compressor hot or cold?

    If is hot.

You may have a blockage in the refrigerant system and if it builds up to much pressure the compressor will not be able to start up.

It may also be overcharged with refrigerant as if you recharge an R600a system that has not had a leak you need to Deduct 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the original weight of gas as you will have 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of gas remaining in the compressor oil so you will be pumping liquid refrigerant around the system.

If it is low on refrigerant it will run continuous and take a long time to cut out .

If the compressor is cold then it will most likely be a faulty fridge evaporator sensor.

It is unlikely to be a PCB fault as there PCB’s are normally reliable.

It is hard to diagnose the fault you have without being able to test it as this is not a common fault on this model.

It may be a compressor or main PCB fault.

If you bypass the water filter it will work fine you will just have unfiltered water.

    The possible fault without testing.

It may need a new rear panel in the fridge compartment.

If the noise you hear is gone on Monday when you turn it back on.

It is the fan iceing up in the fridge causing the noise, and the insulation on the rear panel will be faulty allowing the fan to ice up.

    Re: Caravans!

It is 50 MPH on single carriageways with a transit van so it is no different with a caravan in front doing 50 MPH.

Everyone is in a hurry nowadays but a few MPH slower does not add much time to the journey.

I have not had a caravan for about 20 years but reversing was never a problem as I held my class 1 HGV.

I have found cars taking chances over taking me and nearly hitting oncoming vehicles only to find them a few miles up the road stuck in traffic in front of me.

It is surprising on the M5 South it ends in Exeter but changes to the A38 or A30 so even though it still looks like a Motorway Transit size vans are subject to a 60 MPH limit but most vans still travel at 70 MPH, giving the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary easy revenue.

You should try a touring caravan holiday if you have the towing skills it can be so relaxing and you can stop on the way in lay-bys for a cup of tea as you have your home behind you

Patients and calmness behind the wheel makes all your journeys less stressful.

And remember on single carriage country roads you can go around the corner and find horse riders.

A friend of mine hit a new forest pony by traveling to fast on country roads.

He wrote his van off and killed the pony, he was then a subject of lots of jokes like you now live in a no horse town and it’s no good flogging a dead horse.

It would need a longer defrost 48 hours with the doors open.

For now turn it off for 15 mins then turn it back on and see if it resets itself and starts working.

When you turn it back on it may take ten minutes to start up.

If it starts working again after you have reset it then carry out a full defrost as soon as possible.

Turn it off for 48 hours with the doors open for a full defrost.

Re: DEFROSTED FRIDGE FREEZER THEN VERY STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN

    Hi Chris

The new modern fridge freezer has many more components than a boiler one manufacture now uses 21 sensors and 5 PCB’s plus a display PCB, this is just on the electronic control side of it this is without including heaters, thermal cut outs fan motors etc then you have the refrigeration side of it.

I am unable to show you a diagram as the manufacturer will not supply one.

Some compressors now are not just on working or off not working, but are speed controlled depending on the demand required, this is also controlled by additional PCB’s.

I have worked on American style fridge freezers that also have ice makers, filtered water, TV screens in the door and some linked to the internet for Internet shopping with barcode readers for the contents inside.

One manufacturer now has a door hinge system where you can open the doors from ether side for right or left handed people to use.

I know your appliance has a lot less but it still has a programmed PCB and without being able to test it we can only make a guess at the fault.

We have to repair the above appliances with out any technical information and can only find out the problems by testing each component.

Even us as engineers we sometimes contact one another if we cannot find what is causing a fault we have not seen before in case another member has had the same problem and found the cause.

Some manufactures have common faults and diagnosis is easy others you have to test.

Gone are the days when it used to be a thermostat or compressor fault.

The members on this site help many people and give there time freely to try to help and do not deserve the comments you have made.

I think if you continue to wind up the engineers on this site any future problems you have may remain unanswered or may contain colourful language instead of text.

    Best wishes
