Re: Samsung RSH1NBRS fridge icing up

The Brown and White wires on the evaporator cover lead to another heater.

Is the defrost sensor on the right hand side if so it needs to be mounted on th left on the pipe work leading to the evaporator.

Also the cover may need replacing as the polystyrene loses the insulation qulity due to absorbing moisture.

It sounds like it may be the Icemaker it self causing a problem.

The trouble is on this model sometimes you have to get a freezer door as well.

I would contact a local engineer you can try the search on this site.

It is most likely an internal leak on this model and internal leaks are not repairable.

I would say it is better to put the £117 plus towards a new fridge.

Have you set it too high on the thermostat.

It normally goes quiet between January and The end of April.

I have been lucky the last couple of years and been kept busy all year.

The last three weeks I have not been working to full capacity but have still been busy enough and more work than normal at this time of year.

I have spoken to a few spares reps and they are all saying in general this year spares sales are down and a lot of Repair company’s are quiet.

This may just be the reps are trying to get extra orders by playing the sympathy card.

This sounds like the compressor may be getting hot and cutting out on the thermal overload due to being low on refrigerant.

It is worth trying the defrost but if it was freezing the fridge before the fridge stopped working it could be the sign the refrigerant has been leaking.

Keep us updated after you have defrosted it.

Re: Diplomat APM6852 Fridge Freezer Problem

If the compressor is running and fridge and freezer not cooling it is the compressor not pumping correctly or it has lost the refrigerant due to a leak.

Due to the age of the APM6852 it is best to replace it with a new built in fridge freezer.

In the fridge section if you press the back wall of the fridge near the top does it feel spongy ?.

If there is movement on the wet wall then the appliance is not repairable.

From your discription it sounds like it has lost the refrigerant and the wet wall inside the fridge may have blown.

Best to get a complete evaporator it comes with the thermal fuse and sensor.

Cheapest way to buy them all, and saves the heater getting damaged in transit.

Just take the heater, sensor and fuse off the new evaporator and fit them.

Watch your fingers the Evaporators are sharp.

For this to have melted the door must have been left open.

It still should not have melted as this model has a thermal lamp protector.

You will need to check the thermal protector as well.

Try the WTA shop or AWS appliance spares/ Hygena diplomat spares online.

Re: hot spot on back wall of fridge

As the fridge freezer only works with the fridge thermostat, if the room temperature in the winter was cold the freezer would defrost.

The heater is to warm the thermostat in the fridge to stop the freezer defrosting.

Do you have a switch near the thermostat? If so check it is in the off position.

The switch would be a low ambient switch and not a fast freeze switch.

Some fridge freezers have a heater in the back for low ambient conditions.

If they have nothing to hide. then why do they not put a contact address on there web sites.

Even if they contract the work out or put the customers in contact with the service advertised, they are the first contact and should have a contact address.

    Re: BEKO fridge freezer problem

It is cheaper for manufactures to foam in sensors and as you say built in obsolescence.

A lot of manufactures now foam in sensors even LIEBHERR but LIEBHERR have an access hole for the air sensor in the fridge and now make a mod to fit a fridge evaporator sensor to the models with a foamed in sensor.

On the BEKO the only way is to cut away the foam insulation and this makes it not repairable.
