Re: Do Samsung check if agents are refrigeration trained

I did not enjoy writing this report as I do not enjoy criticizing another engineer.

Giving the fact R600a is a flammable gas and the line tap valve is close to the compressor relay it could have resulted in injury to himself if a spark had occurred.

I hope this gets sorted for the customer without too much fuss by Samsung as at the end of the day all us engineers just do this job to make a living.

I hope this engineer is just given the training he needs by his employer as it is not his fault if he has not been trained to safely handle refrigerants.

The customer said he was due to call between 3 & 5pm but he arrived late at 6.30pm.

So he may have arrived on Trigger and he was not singing.

I don’t think it was the lone ranger because he did not have Tonto with him and the customer did not say he said Hi Ho Silver when leaving.

But who is this masked man.

The customer did say the engineer said he had recently been made redundant by Comet. 😆

Visited today line tap fitted no gas in appliance and dust cap for line tap valve in a box beside the compressor.

Line tap valve leaking no other leaks found but compressor not pumping.

Inspected behind fridge evaporator and it was a surprise the liner was perfect and not burnt or split like you normaly find.

I did not fit a new compressor as mods have not been fitted and the system has been contaminated with Air.

I have given the customer a report so he can go back to Samsung.

If I hear any feedback I will post it here.

If you do not have public liability insurance and she try’s to claim you will just have to try and bluff it.

You will have to tell her you will pass it on to your solicitor who will claim for all cost and compensation for a false claim against you as she would not have any witness to prove her claim.

It is only her word against yours and she would have to
    Prove her claim against you.

If she try’s to claim just pass it to your public liability insurer.

I no longer do any work for letting agents.

When I did most agents deducted 10 percent

I used to add 10 percent to my bill first so I used to add this to my bill first.

Most letting agents pay when they receive the rent from the tenant and if they do not receive it try to get out of paying.

I now tell any letting agent the tenant has to pay me on the visit then claim it back from them.

You would be surprised how the agents except this if they cannot get anyone to fix the appliance for them.

If the refrigerant charge is incorrect it can cause the compressor to run continuous.

The compressor is also controlled by the pcb and sensors

    Re: Samsung RS20 – R600a gas problem

    Hi Brian

According to the FGas regulations you can work on R600a systems if it is factory sealed and clearly marked R600a is in the system as it is safe to assume R600a is in the system.

If the system has been broken into you cannot assume R600a is in the system and the FGAS certificate is required as you need to be able to test by pressure and temperature to identify it is R600a in the system.

If the system has been broken into you do not know what gas is in the system as I have been to R134 systems that have had R600a added and R600a systems with R134 in them.

It’s surprising how many cowboys are out there.

Not all repairers are up to our standard

This was in the legal requirements I had to answer questions on in the exam and one of the questions I was asked.

I took the cat 1 certificate to cover domestic a
and COMERCIAL so this included a lot of legal requirement questions

If you have removed all the screws then it is just frozen to the evaporator do not try pulling it of until you defrost it as you can damage the evaporator or cover.

You can use a wallpaper steamer to defrost it but be carefull you do not over heat the sensor or thermal fuse

If it is overcharged this puts extra stress on the compressor and can cause it to fail if it is left overcharged.
