Re: Zanussi Washer Dryer ZWT 71401 WA – dryer stops midway

I’d look at water intake valve hasn’t gone open circuit or that the dryer heater hasn’t gone low to earth.

Not overly difficult for an old codger engineer like myself, but may be not to easy for a DIYer. Power off of course before attempting any repairs on an electrical appliance.
You sure the clock is faulty?
Some of these lose supply to clock if they’ve gone out on over temperature, t.o.c at rear of appliance could cause this.

First check filters are clean, scum off plastic from tablet covers that should dissolve but won’t on low temp’/short programmes can cause problems with flow rate, if poor water flow through heater it goes open circuit on t.o.c’s .
Same story with circulation pump, also pressure sensor causes same problem, if appliance doesn’t fill to correct level or no water pressure from circ’ pump, the heater goes open circuit via t.o.c’s mounted on heater.
All heaters i’ve changed (dozens of them) have gone open circuit on t.o.c’s rather than open circuit element, proving that its lack of water rather than heater failure.

Should be starting rinse i’d imagine at that time, so maybe start by checking the water valve.

    Re: miele w304 washing machine

Most Miele’s have a motorised diverter on top rear of the soap dispenser, the water is sent to the section required by the programme at that particular time, if its not moving or is sticking perhaps it’s not getting to conditioner section.
If its not got a diverter then i’d check inlet valve coil is not open circuit.

Poor motor cable connection, wiring loom issue i’d imagine. Check for loose plug on P.C.B

Pump blocked perhaps or inlet hose kinked, or pressure sensor defective are the three things that would cause this problem.

Maybe track on circuit board blown, rinse light flashing normally denotes motor failure, brushes badly worn may have caused sparking/arcing of armature which may have been the crack you heard.

You sure the timer is set in manual?
There could be a t.o.c gone, I don’t do much on Hotpoint so am not sure about the location of it. Sorry

Should be quite easy, **** power off of course !
We never know how competent you are, if you are in any doubt get an engineer to do it.

Theres an inverter type motor in these and they can be stiff to turn sometimes.
