Module repaired was the original one so should be ok but as you say, it is an absolute minefield. Just don’t like being defeated

This has no motor action on any program but maybe worth a try. Don’t know what else i can try

Yes to both. Told emw no motor action, they took it back for retest.

Motor winding test at 7 ohms. tacho about 50 ( can’t remember exact reading now )

I’m stumped as to what else it could be. Guessing it damaged something else when it blew but no idea what ?

tried it in the customers home and now in workshop, still the same.Had anotherlook today and thought i’d found fault at control panel end of ribbon cable but started playing up again after half a dozen tries ? Think i might try new ribbon cable first but maybe clutching at straws now.

just to add, when it goes off screen goes blank, then comes back on with time clock reset to zero. time then needs to be reset ( not cook time, actual clock )

Must admit i’m not sure myself, however it is deffinatley load related and works perfectley with a good sized load in the oven. I will double check connection between boards but i have already had it out once and could find nothing wrong. If you can think of anything else i could check i would be MOST grateful

electrofix wrote:I assume you are not buying the mag etc from Neff as it would get expensive if you did that

anyway the mag is reusable as there are lots of these units about

    Dave

No, and luckily had quoted customer for both but they wanted to go ahead anyway as new ones didn’t match their oven !
Just starting to loose confidence with it, don’t think i’ve ever had any appliance cause me so much trouble

AGGGH ! customer wanted it doing so changed magnetron. On 10th time of testing it did it again. Can only assume inverter board as its about all i haven’t changed ??? This job just got very expensive

The repercussions don’t bear thinking about.

Totally agree, won’t be getting involved and have advised to wait for whirlpool to arrange visit

Thanks, i hadn’t seen that thread ( even though i did a search ! ). I carried out that repair, new interlock and amp tags, 6 months ago so should be fine.Hopefully i can reassure her but still allow whirlpool to come and look when they can

My thinking now is possibly magnetron breaking down when low load in the oven, however ,would that cause display to faulter, possiblly ?
Unfortunatley i did my microwave training with the local electricity board long before inverters came in, but i assume they only do the job of the transformer ?

Further info; have found if i have a decent load in mw its ok but if just a cup of water it goes off after 10 – 20 seconds ? doesnt sound like comm error as that would likley be more consistant ?

That was my thinking but the customer has decided she doesn’t want to spend on it so we will never know.
