Ah right sorry, the site I went to when I googled NMW just said that it had been incresed to £6.34, even at that rate though I would’nt be taking it. Not looking to go work for someone else anyway, but have a friend that works for DWP & she thought it would be a good job. Guess who just got wiped off my Christmas card list ?.

Yep Dave you read it right 😆 insulting is’nt it ❓ gotta be honest, could’nt work with 1 of the area Managers there anyway. I only met him for about an hour & less than 5 minutes in I wanted to take him outside and thump him, Slimey supercilious pratt. 😈

Steve: It’s funny you should mention Aldi mate, my missus was looking at jobs there only yesterday 🙂

Hey Jim: It’s not even NMW any more, it’s apparently gone up to £6.31 an hour.

Guy asked me why I kept looking around while I was there, I was waiting for someone to jump out & shout You’ve been framed or something 🙂

Oi Dave: I know i’m big & ugly but there’s no need to call me a monkey 😆 😛

    Re: Smeg a42 fan element

You need to find out what the wattage is of the element you’ve been sent, is it the same as your old element? is there a cover over the element in the oven ? even if it is the same wattage as your original a 3 turn may not fit in the space you have under any cover. Personally I would advise you to get the correct element for your cooker.
Don’t forget if you try to fit the element & it won’t fit, then you probably won’t get a refund on it.

Hi: You might get a faster response if you put your enquiry in the Trade Technical Enquiries section.

Have you checked that all connections are good & that any wiring you detached is re-connected ? Does the machine actually heat the water ?

Hi Helen: Has your partner checked to make sure the element is connected properly ? Does your partner have a Multimeter & know how to use it for continuity testing ? If so then the first thing to do would be check the continuity of the new element to make sure it’s not just a matter of a faulty new element (Not unheard of).

Ok: So if as he admits they already know about the problem, why are they still supplying them to the trade ? Did he mention anything about supplying you with a quality repalcement ?

Hi: Although from past experience we might have a fair idea what’s causing a posters problem. We allways get them to go through the simple things first & especially where something Electrical is concerned we allways ask them to make tests first to confirm a problem & not just jump in with fitting what could be an expensive replacement part.

Re: 2 Pole Voltage / Continuity testers.

Hi Twick: Sorry mate, completely missed this. Strange world, I did quite a bit of Electronics training years ago. Did nightschool courses in PC diagnostics & repair as well & when Electrical work was slow did a stint as a computer engineer in a local steel mill. Never got into the software side of it though, programming bores the pants off me. Used to do PAT testing but have given it up & sold my tester, there’s just no money in it. We have a couple of firms down here who do it for 50p an item, & for that sort of money it’s just not worth the effort. My eldest daughter used to do exactly the same to me as you did to your brother, take tools from my kit & forget to put them back. Lost my favourite pair of pliers like that, she borrowed them & we could never find where she put them.
