Hi John: Well done, so it was the control board. Did you find any discoloured areas?, Check your PM’s left some info for you.

Hi: Have you emptied the filter ? if the filter is blocked then the machine either won’t pump out or won’t pump out fully & it won’t go into spin. Also if it has a spin inhibit button, make sure that it has’nt been accidentaly pressed.

ParticipantRe: AEG L86810, no power displayed
Hi: Before doing anything else, have you tried plugging the machine into a completely different socket. That will eliminate a problem with the socket & isolate the problem to the machine.

Well Yeah: It allways has to be the engineers fault & no matter what abuse you get from them, it’s allways the engineer who was Abusive, Nasty or Racist 😈

Hi John: Yes unfortunately the boards are known for Hot spots & dry joints, lets hope you find something easy to fix.

Hi John: Think it’s time to carefully remove the control board & check for any Blown parts / Burn marks etc. Please make sure to keep good notes of where each connector fits & which way round they go.

Hi John No problem. So from your post: You’ve done a continuity test from the mains plug on both poles, through the filter and on / off switch & then to the control pcb ? Did you use the continuity buzzer on a Multimeter or the Low ohms range ?
If you used the continuity check on a Multimeter, could you please re-check using the low ohms range of the meter. Some Multimeter continuity ranges will tell you the circuit is good with up to 500 Ohms resistance.Have to nip out for about an hour but will be back & hopefully help you through the problem.

Hi John: Just searched through your posts but can’t see any reference to this problem.
Is there any power at all to the machine ? any lights on the front or anything ?Specialist01269
ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZWD1471S refuses to drain – E20 error
Are you putting the old pump back or are you fitting a new 1 ?
Whichever way, take a resistance reading across the pump coil & once you’ve re-connected it take a resistance reading at the pump harness connector on the PCB. The resistance should be virtually the same as you read across the pump coils within an Ohm or two, a much higher resistance indicates a problem. When you cleared all the gunk out of the machine did you blow out the pressure tube that goes from the tub to the pressure switch ?Specialist01269
ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZWD1471S refuses to drain – E20 error
Something else you need to check is the connections to the pump itself. Just re-read your original post, if you’ve stripped the pump apart the impeelor should’nt be hard to turn.

If you’ve been trying it with the pump humming then before replacing the pump i’d check the PCB for burns & overheating. Also check for dry joints. Not quite sure what you mean when you say it does’nt feel broken ?

Cheers George, thought that was the case but wanted to confirm it. Customers are so thick it’s unbelievable, says Electrical Appliance Engineers in big letters across the top of the Flyers she got my number from. Pointed that out to her & she says oh I thought you must have forgotten to put Gas down, I give up.

Good on you for trying something new mate, hope it works out for you. I’ve never really done anything other than Electrical / Electronic systems since before leaving school, I was lucky to have an uncle & a friend of my parents who were in the trade & only too happy to teach me. Done a few courses in other things like plumbing etc but never really strayed from electrical stuff, so i’ll look at just about anything electrical / electromechanical & been lucky enough to fix most things i’ve looked at. Can’t fix my Steinel though it’s finally given up the ghost on me. :eeek: Damned thing only lasted 10 years 😯 🙂
