ParticipantRe: Moral Dilemma…What would you do?
I never turn upside down, pressure switch pipework is always prone to airlocks and water into the switch chamber, something that was hammered into us 40 years ago and old habits and all that.
Friends that are worth having will understand,if they dont then you know where you stand.
Check the pcb, might be a blown track you can repair.spimps
ParticipantRe: Christms Lights
We have just round the corner from us an American family who put up a 10ft inflatable santa in american livery with “God Bless America” on it.
Time for a bit of dart practice whilst dog walking 😈spimps

electrofix wrote:it sound like you are mixing up the wires for the hot lamp with the wires for the ring
since the stat on this ring switches outer to inner contact if you buzz the live to the ring ( turn knob on and off to check and get it on the right side of the stat it will work

Recently had a week cycling round the Loch Lomond // Clyde area, took my best road bike (1/4″ tyre contact) which didn’t cope with the lumpy bits up and down glen fruin and douglas, fab scenery though.
Farmers round here are all fetching in the last stuff and its a bit muddy normally but that today was the worst I’ve seen in forty years. Good paying job so “where there is muck theres money” eh!spimps

Will have to return and delve deeper into this one if ther isnt a manual, think its a hardback copy though.

ParticipantRe: Gas Safety Question
I advised the agency in writing that it was RIDDOR reportable.
The other factor was that the property was approaching 20 years old and had 3 owners before the current landlord, when was it done would be difficult to ascertain.
For me it’s been corrected so at least it is not dangerous anymore.
I have no gas qualifications whatsoever,am I even qualified to say the origional should be checked,is it my business or concern? I am there to repair and safety check an electrical item.
What if I had said or done nothing or not noticed it?
What is the “value” of a landlords gas safety check/certificate if the inspection doesn’t find what is an unsafe fitting, weakest point and all that.spimps
ParticipantRe: Clocks & Time Change
My wife was gazing out the window on Sunday morning watching the birds in the field and said “I wonder how changing the clocks affects them”? 😯 😀
And before you ask she isn’t blonde, sweet lady but can keep me in order when req’d as she has done over the last 43 years!spimps
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint BE42 Hob

ParticipantRe: Gas Safety Question
Had a reply back from agents stating that repair has been done.

ParticipantRe: Gas Safety Question
Unless it’s a water supply intended for a steam oven it seems fairly certain I think.
Wasn’t going to remove the cap to check 😯spimps
ParticipantRe: Gas Safety Question
Thanks, I’m unable to see that a push on plastic cap end is OK.
Say something fell on it and it broke as opposed to a brass or copper end that would be more either soldered or screwed on and would also be more resilient.
Perhaps a gas safe engineer could advise what will be acceptable.spimps
