Re: Hotpoint FF92 Ongoing Problems- Help!

Difficult to be sure with all thats been done, however if the compressor is running and the internal fan in the freezer is running you should be acheiving better temperatures.
It could therefore be low on refrigerant and need a check on the system, however without getting hands on it’s impossible to say for sure.
Does sound like more cost ahead !

Just to add further complications on some models a defrost heater is embedded in the drain channel base and walls so if this fails it will constantly block.
    Maybe time to

Wonder what it cost to create Humberside then back to North Lincs,Rutland was erased from the map then re created, bet the logo’s cost a mint alone, indulgent waste of money.
M O D waste a fortune, something like 8 Chinooks that are 5 years old but have never flown because the wrong softwrare was ordered, have a friend who works for a painting contractot for the M O D,can’t beleive them, sent him on a 400 mile round trip to paint 0ne door but couldn’;t do the frame as it was too expensive,8 hours all told to travel and paint one door!
We’d be hauled to trading standars if we carried on like that.

Unplug first, just look for continuity through the connecting plugs, the only resistance req’d is for the element which is usually 10 to 30 watt,it’s often stamped on the side of the element, then go to ohm’s law calcultion

enter the wattage and voltage and you wlill have your answer.

Sounds like the selector switch, the contacts often fail/burn out,it’s quite obvious when you see this as it’s black and burnt, unfortuneately they are on underneath of the selector switch so not easily visible.
You need to remove control panel facia to access the two securing screws which hold the switch, the control can then be turned over to view.
Could be a failed connector on the neutral side, maybe at mains connector at back. It’s a case of taking off the facia to get to the two screws which release the selector switch, you can turn it over and view the underneath of the selector.
Be VERY VERY careful, switch off at main switch and consumer board, you are dealing with 30amp/ 7 k’s and there are no second chances, would suggest you call an engineer if in doubt.

Could be derost heater or pcb (which runs the defrost) or wiring connections. There is also a thermal protector fixed near to the top of the evaporator which may be faulty or open circuit. All need checking for continuity or resistance along with the connectors with a meter, maybe time for an engineer

    Are the temp’s OK ?
The condenser is the black looking radiator thing connected to the back, they can be loose or pressed against the wall if the fridge is pushed too far back causing vibration.
Could be compressor noise, also there could be a refigerant relay but not sure on this model.
Not much you can do otherwise ,then it’s time for an engineer to take a look.

    Re: Hoover HFA270

If it was lack of refidgerant pot would be hot but condenser would be barely warm when it should be quite hot to the touch at the topIf it was a relay/starter fault you can usually hear the pot try to start and then the overload trips out.It can take 10 minutes or so for these to re set and try to start again,if left constantly trying to start the pot would again be hot.
If cover is removed from relay/start device you can easily with meter establish supply to the pot.
Is there a start capacitor sitting near the motor!,doubt it but can’t remember on this one.
Also to check windings on pot remove start device and quite simply take the resistance reading between the three pins so you have three figures two of which when added should equal the third,if they don’t either the start or run winding has failed.
Could also remove the supply cable from the pcb/thermostat at the pot and replace with the live supply giving a constant supply direct to the compressor, this will establish that the compressor runs,if it clicks out could be starter or winding failure it will also establish that the charge is OK if it ice’s up evenly on all of the the evaporator.

Re: Samsung RS20 – defrost element icing up

The thermal fuse is there to prevent overheating during defrost periods.
The fin area where the freezing takes place is the evaporator where the refidgerant state changes from liquid to gas,the condensor is the black raidiator looking device at the back near the motor which reverses the state of the refigerant ie gas to liquid.
Not sure if there are two defrost heaters, one for the evaporator and one for the defrost channel.
Think you are getting to the stage where an engineer would be needed to check out heaters, connectors pcb etc.

Try http://www.stagonset.co.uk jubilees in stainless 7m wide very adaptable and good quality and not the heavy gauge type so form well around the heater tube, used on commercial dishwashers etc.

Re: Service MO330W Frost Free Fridge Freezer – Fridge not co

    Hi,
The fan pushes air through the coils, there are two ducts/channels embeded in the case of the fridge, one to take cold air up to the fridge usually below the coils and the other to return the air back to the freezer usually above the coils.
When the evaporator coils become blocked with ice the fan is unable to push the air around hence the warm temps in the fridge. You have cured it for the time being but there may be an under lying fault causing the problem. If it’s still Ok in amonth then you should have cured it.
Normally the freezer defrosts itself but if the door hasn’t been closed correctly for say overnight this could trigger off the over frosting.

Presume the freezer is still working.
Can you hear the motor running. If you emptied the freezer and turned the appliance completely off , leave the freezer door open and switched off for at least 36 hours, this would allow any freezing blockage to disperse.
