ParticipantThere is still some stock of BSH branded Smeg integrated washer dryers on the market. I suspect a lot of Smeg’s laundry production depends on BSH and if Smeg were to lose that contract, I guess that would be the nail in the coffin for their laundry production.

ParticipantWell, it looks like Connect have taken some action – the Wow Discounts price on ebay has now gone up to £40.46. The cheapest on ebay now is Ransom Spares, but I suspect like many things they list, they don’t actually stock it, so might not be able to honour that price.
Electrolux’s current list price is £32.18+vat, so Connect’s price not too kuch out of line.

ParticipantLooking through Companies House records, a new Finance Director was appointed to Connect Distribution Services Limited and what looks on first glance to be the whole network of linked companies on 13 January, replacing Kathryn Godfree who left on 7 January, the day after accounts for the year to 31 October 2002 were submitted nearly 6 months late (after triggering a strike off notice from Companies House). The accounts for the previous year were submitted 3 months late.
Turnover of the CDSL Group was up £6 million on the previous year to £107 million, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA, apparently a measure of business performance) up fractionally to £9.6 million. So they appear to be doing well, but potentially not quite well enough to satisfy shareholders. New director, new focus on profit margins, I guess.

ParticipantHaving said that, I had a problem with low insulation on a genuine Electrolux dishwasher element for a 22 year old slimline dishwasher – simply very old stock.
stratfordgirl
ParticipantDoes it come in a bag with Electrolux hologramed label? I don’t have experience of this particular element but distributors sometimes try to pass non-gen “grey” imports as genuine, particular with volume sellers such as elements.
stratfordgirl
ParticipantWhat is the Electrolux part number of this part? There are 4 a variants on Connect at widely differing prices, listed as alternatives. Maybe the WOW listing was for one of these alternatives?

ParticipantThe water softener inlet o-ring seals tend to leak after 15+ years – the 2nd most common fault I find on these now

ParticipantYes, and 17{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} cheaper for next day delivery too. It definitely pays to shop around. The cheapest option on this part is likely from trade spares at Whirlpool.

ParticipantIf you click on the little symbol somewhere in the advert (sometimes labelled Ad choices), I found you can opt out of that particular advert host. I went though this process for three different hosts, and bingo, no adverts! I guess I’ll see some new ones next time I log in though.

ParticipantDid you check the dampers? On some relatively recent Beko models, I’ve seen dampers break free from the bottom frame due to metal fatigue and others to fail prematurely due to leaks from the dispenser housing above. If the dampers are fine, user error is a possibilty – for example I once witnessed similar damage on a Hotpoint machine caused by a pilllow moving suddenly during spin.
