ParticipantRe: Bosch SMS6012GB goes for 3 or 4 mins then stops
Doubt that would be the fault with yours though, one of the oldies – could be broken wires in the door?

Had one like this today, a 3 year old Bosch, mouse had built a nest inside and lived there all winter. Didn’t bite any hoses, just filled the works up with a load of nesting rubbish, mouse droppings and half a pint of stinking urine. Helped the elderly gent drag it outside to be scrapped.

Nothing sinister. Repaircare appear to be the service provider for Prima Appliances, part of the PJH group:
http://www.prima-appliances.co.uk/
selling the usual range of rebadged integrated appliances

ParticipantRe: Passing Off
Interesting that the only apple domestics listed on Yell.com is located in London SW14. Also that the main number on the Apple Domestics website is a mobile phone. The landline on the Contact us page is not the same as for Chiltern Domestics whose address they claim to share. These kinds of inconsistencies always ring alarm bells when I am looking for a business online.

ParticipantRe: Sandstrom Dishwasher
Marketing Week, 3 Aug 2010, announcing Currys new brands Essentials, Logik, Advent and Sandstrom says: “Sandstrom will be the premium range including high-tech electricals such as TVs that DSGi says will compete with leading high-end consumer brands.”
Note that the black Sandstrom dishwasher is reduced from £350 to £230, the same price at the Logik in Silver, and not far ahead of the Essentials at £190. What amazing value for this high end chinese dishwasher!

ParticipantRe: The 0800 Thread
Thanks, Allsorts, very decent of you. I wasn’t trying to take issue with you personally, apologies if it came across that way. I was just a little concerned that the individual’s identity may have (inadvertently) been disclosed.
Mikeday’s post above also contains the Facebook name in the quoted text, by the way. Prudent to edit that out as well, maybe?

I think it unfair to continue to probe for more details and publicly humiliate the gentleman, for his response in the heat of the moment. After all, he has committed no crime. It would be charitiable to edit out his Facebook profile name from the above listings and it would be decent to remove the photo or at least to “photoshop” out his face to render it unrecognisable.

ParticipantRe: Card Readers for Hotpint/Indesit
I have used a smart card reader quite a lot to programme new boards on washers and dryers. There have been at least 3 versions of the reader, so make sure you get the latest. I have never needed the low end adapter.
Smartcards can only be used once and are not easy to find. Even Indesit are sometimes out of stock, although there’s often stock available for the identical alternative colour model. A few models list half a dozen or more alternative software sets, depending on production specification, so it can be a bit of a minefield to pick the right one.

ParticipantRe: Customer quoting Sale of Goods.
Some useful info on RETRA webite on consumer rights. http://www.retra.co.uk/consumerInfo/consumer_info000.asp
In particular the need for the consumer to prove the appliance was faulty at the time of sale.
It is unlikely that a broken spider was faulty at the time of sale. If that had been the case, eg faulty casting, the problem would have come to light soon after purchase.
Rather, it would have broken due to a gradual process of corrosion. This is likely to have been caused by build up of sludgy deposits in the washing machine. This could have been caused by use of too much or too little detergent, excessive use of fabric conditioner, use of cheap detergent not containing the necessary anti-corrosion inhibitors, failure to carry out regular high temperature maintenance washes, etc.
You could write to her pointing out the above and inviting her to commission an independent engineer’s inspection to ascertain the cause of the failure.

Good replacement for the failed Haus bought from Argos last year then!

Need a few “Where reasonably practicable” qualifiers added to the rules, perhaps?

I think you can leave the time zone set to GMT all year round and just change summer time active option to Yes or No as appropriate.

ParticipantRe: masterpart or connect.
For stock availability, Connect usually the best, followed by Qualtex, followed by Masterpart. Price, no hard and fast rule, best to shop around. Customer service, pretty good most of the time these days in my experience.

ParticipantRe: Nice little earner??
£68 fixed fee repair, all parts and labour included, must fall into that “too good to be true” category, surely? Subsequent repairs within 3 months are also FOC! I wonder how many machines they BER?

ParticipantRe: Millions not dying due to low temperature washes.
I think the presenter said bio powder won’t kill germs, the professor recommended bleach, but said this would be called TAED on ingredients list and Aggie recommended 60 degree wash once a week. Vinegar was to get rid of smells. A bit confused overall, but at least the 60 degree advice is beneficial.
