Re: Differences between self-employed and being an employee

Being self-employed is the best thing ever when your earning money!
For me all the things that some folks have said are disadvantages, like paper work, accounting, stock ordering, van etc, is a buzz. I love it, its all part of the job. Even when its hectic and stressfull, because its good stress. Being in control of everything especially the money. What other job would you get experience in being an engineer, driver salesman, mechanic, accountant, secretary, public relations officer, administrator, stock controler, manager etc.
Knowing that all the money i generate is all my own doing gives me a great sense of achievement. The earning potential is almost limitless and the harder you work the more you earn.
The disadvantages in my opinion are when your not busy you still have all the hectic and stressfull things to do and for little or no money! Thats bad stress!
Your almost never completely off duty. Doing paper work while watching telly or answering the phone while cooking the dinner.
You dont get paid holiday or sick pay but if your earning good money you can holiday when and for as long as you like and you dont have to phone anyone to explain that your piles are exeptionly painfull today!

    Re: Hydrocarbon disposal ?

Oops! Yep, i miss read the start of the thread thinking it was about hydrofluorocarbons.
Sorry! Disregard what i said spimps.

Although i would still be a bit worried about burning off the r600 though. Maybe a hose with an access valve coupler fitted to one end, so the gas could be vented out a window. (Making sure no ones outside having a fag break) lol.

    Re: Hydrocarbon disposal ?

Who recommends venting HFC’s etc to the outside then? This is illegal. The refrigerant must be recovered. Some refrigerents produce toxic fumes when burnt, so burning it off with a bunson burner is not a good idea. There is a course on the safe handling of refrigerants.

The model you describe should only need the rear board as it is a 2004 model.

    Re: Candy Ribbon Cable

Ended up repairing the damaged ribbon cable myself, as dealing with Gias was just too much hassle. Bit like micro surgery (i imagine). Machine is all working fine and customer is happy (landlord with a few propertys) and also aware of the problems with Gias so wont be buying Hoover again.

    Re: Candy Ribbon Cable

Needed 12 way cable so ordered from Gias.
What turned up was “12 way cable connecter”, just the plastic pcb connector without any cable. Got onto Gias and after some tooing and throwing they said they would call me back after they had spoken to the “technical guys”. They later rung me back and said you can only get the ribbon cables by buying the whole wiring harness at £69. This cant be right surely?
