    Re: Servis M6140AL problem

it must be worth taking the pcb off to check for a dry joint they can be sorted with a bit of soldering.

it sounds like a pcb problem to me.
they are bad for dry joints.
    plug out before checking.

it will either be the capacitor or a broken wire going to the capacitor,
    plug out before checking please.

Re: Hotpoint BWD129 – Not emptying – How to remove filter co

i have relly enjoyed these posts.
i will add my 2p worth.
    take the plug out first.

on a more serious note i had the exact same problem with a bwd129 i could not get the filter out i have broken them in the past i like a big pair of vice grips.
i pulled the machine out tipped it back at a 45 degree angle until the lid rested on the worktop i stood back and stared as all these woodshavings fell out, what is that the customer asked i jokingly said “it looked like a hamsters nest” then with a thud a fat brown hamster fell out the bottom of the machine it had been missing for 2 days and was taking its bedding out of the cage into the bottom of the machine.
watch out for that it might happen to you, i got the fright of my life.
    unfortunately the machine was stinking.

good luck and let us know what was in it.

i changed that gearbox it took me 1 hour mainly as i had to keep reading the instructions.
it works great the customer was delighted a much more satisfying job than sticking a pcb in a widl.
    thanks for the help.

Re: Servis m6002w spin problem etc….

    hi,
the machine has a faulty pcb the machine could have 2 different types depending on the age of the machine, the pcb has a number on it which indicates which one it is.
if it is a farly new machine with a 546089200 pcb the servis engineer could put a hand held janus tester on it which would tell him its faulty.
if it doesnt have that pcb he can only take your word for the fault and should probably change the pcb.
plug out if you take a loohk yourself.
i would not say however that the engineer is lying but it is very difficult if he tries the machine and it works ok.

    Re: hotpoint twin tub

I have a new tripod kit from BEC its a pattern spare it doesnt look great as the tripod has no ceramic counterface it is just shine steel, the seal and nut looks ok.
i have used one before and it worked ok.
the gearbox i have is brand new but i only paid £50 for it, i have never done one in the past because of the cost of the part but i am doing this one as a favour for an old customer who has no room in her kitchen for an automatic and the water pressure is terrible.
i dont fancy fixing it at all it seems like an awful lot of work.

    Re: will i wont i???

    hi,
i have worked on my own for 18 years and every day i regret doing it, i work longer hours and make less money than any of my friends you get no paid holidays, no pension unless you pay for it, no guaranteed wage at the end of the month, no sick pay.
i am working longer hours, covering a bigger area, doing more types of appliances and still making the same money i did 10 years ago.
i am under constant stress mountains of paperwork, the mobile phone rings from 8 in the morning to 11 at night including weekends.
i wish i could find a job with a wage that when you clock off you are finished not constantly thinking of ordering parts, making phone calls etc.
i wish i had a wage coming in instead of getting caught out with nonpayers, bounced cheques paying income tax twice a year.

i was going to finish with a positive “sometimes people are in when they say they will be in, and sometimes they have money”

Re: Hotpoint WMA11 – I just cant pin this down??

spining very fast on was would indicate a taco problem or supply to taco,
i had one recently where i had changed the board and when i put it to spin the motor went straight to full speed then stopped, whe i checked the taco coil ther was no circuit though it.
