Re: Easy(?) Question About Leaking Hotpoint WD640

could it be something as simple as a blocked sump hose, the machine should not spin with water in it, but as the pressure switch tube is attached to the sump the machine may think it has emptied the water away and allow the machine to spin with water in it.

if a washing machine spins with water still in it the water will be thrown up into the soap dispenser.

it would be worth taking the sump hose off to have a look.

    remember power off.

    Re: Noisy WD

sounds like something in the pump ie. coin, bra wire etc.
if you check it make sure the plug is out.

the pump works when the dryer is on so if it is a foreign object you will hear it on drying as well as spinning

you could also check for a broken wire at the bottom of the door where the wires go into the bottom of the cabinet sometimes opening and closing the door will make or break a broken wire.

but also ensure plug is out befor removing door panel

    Re: Servis M9090 Spin problems

does the machine spin with a load in it? capacitors can be weak that is tests ok with a meter but not put out enough of a charge to spin. if its loaded it will just go round 1/2 a turn and then fall back if the capacitor is faulty.
check the heater if there is no circuit through it or has a short it can cause spin proplems.
another thing is that the belt should be really tight also causes spin problems.

i went to a miele recently the motor was burnt out i phoned up miele the motor was £230 to me how can i do a job at that price sold them a hoover.
ive been selling hoover machines for 15 years never had any major problems yes i know the doors fall off the 6 series but they fell off the hotpoint wm as well no great problem i know if they do break down i can fix it, i can get the part quickly at reasonable price, pattern spares are available (which i would never use unless absolutely stuck).
i wont be able to say when the hoover factories in the uk shut that it was because i recommended bosch or miele.
if bosch are so good how come the majority of posts are problems with bosch.
in the newer hotpoint machines the only thing hotpoint is the drums ive never seen a wma which either had the bearings changed or needed them changed.
i instaled some for powerhouse the bearings were noisy from day one.
i used to work in the bearings industry.
ive got a hoover machine and im proud of it.
candy took over hoover about 5 years ago.
with hoovers 5 year parts guarantee if it was ever a major problem i would get them to fix it and the customer pays the callout charge,
yes i know its £80-£90 but it means the machine can be fixed.

    Re: new washing machine

no need to spend as much as that to get a quality machine ive been recommending hoover for years argos are selling an hp6120 washing machine for £200 they come with a 5 year parts guarantee so no need for silly warranties.
or try your local independant who probably supply, deliver and install a similar hoover machine thus saving you hassle of delivery charges and installation.
or you could also consider a washer dryer hnwl7136 at £300 from argos.
