Re: Brittania ceramic range – top off?

Just to add, they were screws with a nut on the other side, so the back panels had to come off as well.

The ones that I have done in the past have two screws at the back, the top then lifts from the back and then you slide it forward.
I don’t know if that helps?.

Hi, yes there is a small plastic pin that is part of the outer door that breaks off. The outer door will need replacing.

We’ve also had to replace a few that have failed within a few months. We just put it down to poor quality.

Hi, just wondered if you got to the bottom of this one?.
We’ve had a customer ring in and hers is doing the same.

Re: Is it just me or is anyone else quiet?

April and May were the quietest we’ve had for a few years. The majority of the work that was coming in, was from letting agents, who of course we invoice. That made a massive dent in the money that was coming in.
It has only started to pick up this week.
Speaking to other trades in the area, a lot of them are saying the same.

Does it show any error code?. It’s worth checking the internal fuse and also door switches

    Hi Don,
That looks like it. Possibly the other two position numbers above it as well.

I’ve used Belstar electrics before. They’ve normally got a reasonable stock of spares. http://www.belstar-electrics.co.uk

The two long things you are describing are the terminals for the heater.
To test the thermostat, remove the two wires to each stat and measure the resistance. You should have 0ohms.

The thermostats are the two things that are screwed to the top of the heater. One has two white insulators and the other has the two green insulated terminal covers.
