ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
So as previously discussed the overheat stat isn’t doing its job…

It will be the main one. The smaller one is the dryer control.

ParticipantRe: Carbon brush wear
It’s definitely on the 1600 spin hoover models with the dc module at the bottom. Had another one this week. 5 years old. One brush completely gone the other as good as new.

ParticipantRe: Re Hotpoint DSC60S Stand Alone Cooker
If all that’s ok then it could be the timer itself. Can you bypass it to prove the point?

ParticipantRe: Neff V6320X0GB/01 dryer problem
I wouldn’t have thought the valve not operating would cause the overheat to operate.
Are you sure the condensers not blocked & the fan is fluff free…timdowning
ParticipantRe: Washing machine Return rights
Putting 1 item in will be an ‘out of balance’ load on any machine. Hence the not spinning.
Are you sure you are choosing the right program for the correct spin?
What is the max spin of your machine compared to your old one. Don’t forget quick washes often door a lower spin than a cottons even if a spin dial is set to max.timdowning
ParticipantRe: Any Recommends Re Decents Dishwashers…

Freestanding or integrated?

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
You can keep going with this;
what if you fit a pattern kit whose tolerances are higher than the original stat kit.
So resetting the original overheat may be safer than a new pattern kit…timdowning
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
It certainly wasn’t lint, I cleaned it out three weeks earlier as a precaution…
(Proper strip down & drum away from backplate clean out)
As I say, I think it’s an overheat issue, certainly on this one. No dryer should get that hot that the contents combust.timdowning
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
It was the contents that caught fire.
All components were spotless, there certainly wasn’t any fluff build up.
Could it be just that they overheat due to the overheat stat not operating soon enough?
I’ve been to many a Hotpoint where the belt has gone or the starter capacitor has failed but the heater is still cooking away merrily…timdowning
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
Talk us through it Tim, but you AND the Fire Brigade called out to the same dryer fire?
The dryer caught fire, the fire brigade were called, I went out to inspect it,then dispose of it & put a new dryer in.

ParticipantRe: just when you think you had seen it all !!
I reckon it was left there and blocked up at the front when they had the kitchen last done.
