ParticipantI’ve got another one of the same model to do Tuesday so I’ll do my best not to panic & start playing it like a fruit machine & record what reset works…

ParticipantTwo things come to mind – was it the the correct version of heat pump as there are number of different ones for that range. Did you inadvertently swap the heat pump wires with the drain pump wires – it can be done. Did you disturb any other wires? I wouldn’t have thought your other findings mean anything but there could be a fault on the control module when the original heat pump failed…

ParticipantI replaced the door lock & it didn’t clear the E16 code. I tried all the normal Bosch resets but to no avail. Luckily nowadays with customers having to stay in another room & not breathing down your neck (I’ve been wanting this to happen for years) I had more time to try things out. Somehow I did get it to clear – I’d really like to know what the official reset is mind.

ParticipantAnyone? Thanks.

ParticipantYes it is incredible how the work just stopped coming in. I’ve had a the phone ring a few times today but my voicemail message says I’m not taking anymore bookings. Considering how desperate people normally are & can’t manage a day without an appliance it is still incredible we aren’t getting more enquiries – it is going to go crazy busy when this all hopefully comes to an end…

ParticipantThe issue is that she called out a plumber who probably charges £80 as standard to walk in the door whatever the job. (Different world to ours) Who knows he may have said who wouldn’t fix it but just rescue the washing from it – I’m not saying by any stretch that it’s fair but I’m sure that’s how he would talk his way around it.
By the way Ive met lots of 90 year olds who wouldn’t stand for that s#i€.

ParticipantThe sump chamber can get blocked where it leads to the pressure switch tube. You can get to the pressure tube etc through the front access panel with the door off.

ParticipantDid one of these for the first time a few weeks back. Yes you have to take the hob off & just work downwards. Ideally it looked like the side panels need to come off too but I managed somehow to access the screws with a bit of jiggling. Wish I knew how fiddly it was going to be before I gave them a price…

ParticipantThis subject has been discussed over & over again on UkWhitegoods. Nothing has changed in the 14 years I’ve been on this site & I’m sure it never will.
The split drum thing makes no difference. A drum that last 10-15 years & is available for £50 as a spare part is what’s required. Brushless motors are becoming the norm which certainly won’t help the repairer. The car example isn’t true as 86{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of new car sales (2 million or so a year in the UK) are leased. So the owning & cherishing a car analogy isn’t right.

ParticipantSounds obvious but try plugging it into a different socket outlet.

ParticipantRemove side panels.
Release door ropes from hinges.
Remove front access panel.
Lay machine on its back.
Pull down base. Metal lugs latch into plastic base.
Remove 4 Screws holding sump in place.
Etc, etc.
Not too bad a job. Allow an hour or so plus 30 minutes to run a quick wash to make sure it’s all running ok. I always replace the distributor whilst I’m at it.

ParticipantThe machine is definitely heating the water?

ParticipantDoes it keep going from 12-15 indefinitely or once it goes to 15 it’s goes through the cycle ok?

ParticipantI get on well with this, it’s not height adjustable though.
10 seconds to unfold / fold.
