    Re: Hoover CA232 Timer ??

Had problems with both the selector and the board on this range of models. I always change the selector first (91201337), as they are cheap and easy to fit.( Electrue are doing them buy 2 for £5.99 each.) I have tried to work out a pattern to what faults are down to what, but as of yet I haven’t. Cheers.

Why is there always a negative to a positive. Just when you think your getting somewhere. Some jobs are never destined to be completed, (with a profit).

    Re: ISE reliability

I agree that the customer does want reliability but I thought this project was also about us the engineers, if the ‘numbers game’ is weighed greater towards the customer, then ISE as a company will profit as well. So the engineers who are the rise or fall of ISE will lose on repairs. Considering repairs are our bread and butter the £80 profit on the sale of the new machine will soon lose it’s appeal.
I am seriously interested in the concept of ISE but am looking for that re-assurance that i probably won’t obtain.

How about if we sell the extended warranty and it isn’t used, returning the extended warranty money back to us the seller. This would help counteract the lack of repairs over the 5 years.

    cheers.

    Re: DOOR LOCK WMA 9

Take pcb off machine and look for blown track. Link blown track, look for dodgy wires before testing machine. (Remember the door lock may have been the culprit initially).

Can you not re-solder / link wire the blown track? Give this a try before you entertain the bearing replacement. If still no drum action and the motor and wiring are ok must be module.

Re: Guarantee cards in new machines.

Sending off your guarantee card dosen’t seem to mean anything, because when it comes to requiring a call-out under the guarantee the customer has to show proof of purchase. Telling the manufacturer you sent the guarantee card in the post dosen’t cover you. I am of the same mind-set as you, first year manufacturer, second year onwards come back to me. Forget the extended insurance as the customer will normally be quids in by paying as they go. Plus, hopefully I get the work rather than the manufacturer.

Usually you can get away with changing the 2 large white resistors on the board. (Available from many electronic outlets). I think electrue sell them. Or just take them off another board. Much cheaper than a new or recon board.

Check inlet valve on the back of the water container unit, make sure it plunges in and out.

    Re: Hoover CA230 W/machine

The only faults i’ve had with the module are no wash action / spin. Not sure if timer is advanced by module? Check for low insulation on the heater and that the machine isn’t syphoning down the drain. If all else is well must be the module. The good thing with the modules are that they are a good price and fit numerous models.(£28 homespare).

might be worth tightening the belt first, she might be putting more of a load in it than you. (Customers always seem more careful with loads when the washing machine engineers around) 🙂

    Re: ariston a1235 shattered glass

Had glass shatter on a brand new (one week old) hoover washer dryer. The glass imploded jaggered bits and tiny bits, had to uplift and deliver replacement, that ones been ok. Don’t know why it happened, machine was in an out-house. 😥

new wave leaving black marks on sheets etc.

    no fault found….advice……no fault found…..advice…..no fault found…..
I’ll change the bearings if you insist…..2 years later when I went back for another fault…..i assume changing the bearings stopped the black marks then? no said the customer but changing my steam iron did.

She was 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure the marks were there when she got the clothes out of the washer. You can’t tell them can you.

    Re: sticking hoover

Had one the other day which was playing up on the rinses, checked for the normal blockages, low insulation on heater, everything ok, so changed the timer, still no joy, ended being the main module.

In the future I will still try the timer first as they are cheap and fit a variety of models.

    cheers.
