Thanks for the replys. Hand tight, quarter turn with my swan necks is my normal approach as well. PTFE as a last resort, funny though the PTFE does generally work, so must do something. I know the hoses make a face seal but the PTFE tape obviously acts as a secondary measure to reduce the chance of water creeping through the threaded part of the hose. I know…I know if the seal was right in the first place you wouldn’t need a secondary measure. But a ‘FAIL SAFE’ option is always worth while especially when a new kitchen cupboard is on the cards.

If it fills on number 2 and not on 3 etc then the pressure switch must be ok, as there is only one pressure switch. Try swapping the power supply to the hot valve to the cold valve and see what happens on the number 2 programme. This will at least prove the cold valve is definitely ok.

I think this model has an economy button, check it hasn’t been bypassed as this would cause timer to skip the heat cycles.

As far as i’m aware the hot valve is only used on the number 2 programme. Cold valve only on all other programmes. I was thinking somehow 240volts for the cold valve was going to the drain pump, as in someone had switched wires on timer. what happens when you put it on a number 7 spin? would be interesting if the cold valve came on?

Try fabric conditioners that are for sensitive skin, i.e Comfort Pure. don’t use that Easy Iron conditioner, causes loads of problems.

Seen loads of these, never had this fault before. Has someone had a go themselves and put the connectors or wires in the wrong place? Perhaps Dave Conway could send you the wiring chart first. Have you tried individually disconnecting valves, pump, heater, motor etc to see if fault persists? (Even though you say they test ok).

Never had a module do this, either the tacho, but as it is a newer machine with the more secure tacho assy, it is probably a short on the motor itself. (do check for signs of water on the pump while your at it, can damage module, but shouldn’t have given you this fault).

    There are two ways water can enter machine when not in use;

    1) the cold valve inside the machine is staying open slightly.

    2) water is running back from sink.

turn off cold supply valve for a few days, carry on using your sink and see if water stills fills up in your machine.

Had a few samsung motors judder and abort, normally the board rather than the motor. I’m assuming its an induction motor on this LG.

Have you tried seeing if the compartment syphons when holding it under a running tap. On my machine at home the water does flow over the overflow section but when the water has dropped below this point the syphoning action kicks in and fully drains the compartment. (don’t want to seem rude, but is there a syphoning cap over tube at the back of the compartment?)

As far as I am aware the dispenser draw was changed sometime back, eliminating the ‘in wash bleach section’. Your model should have already had the modified draw in it so you shouldn’t have to change the top section. Have you tried winding the front feet down a turn or two as this can help the syphoning action. (it has worked for me on a number of oocasions). Also shorten the return spring on the dispenser actuating lever. Check the lever on the top of the dispenser is 2 notches above the middle point.( There is a maximum fill point in the conditioner compatment so don’t go above that)

    Re: Servis Washing Machine Thermostat/Thingy

Has this machine got a mechanical timer and a pcb at bottom corner or just a pcb at top of machine. If it is a mechanical timer make sure customer is selecting the programme exactly right. For example make sure on a number 4 cycle the timer is turned to the notch just before the number 4. The customer may complain that sometimes the cycle takes 40 minutes and other times 1hour 15minutes. This is when the timer is set on 4 not the notch before. All you have to do is convince the customer they COULD be using it wrong. Good Luck.

Thanks for your answers, one thing I did forget was to do with the paragraph below……

‘Our machine has been built to our specification, it is guaranteed for five years, delivery and installation are included in the price and, should you ever have a problem or question, you simply contact the person who installed it and they comeback to resolve it … FREE! ‘

I think the ‘FREE’ could come back and haunt us as there is no explanation about misuse of machine…i.e. one free coin removal then chargeable thereafter.

    cheers.

I agree with Martin, if they can’t work it out for themselves to bad. You know what its like you keep telling them and they keep doing it. Might as well save your breath from the start. I suppose if it’s an ISE customer it may be worth while supplying a do’s and don’ts sheet in with the instructions, then the customer can’t plead ignorance. And this helps separate the chargeable calls from the un-chargeable.
