    Re: hotpoint appliances

I think Hotpoint used to charge the normal call out, then £25.00 per extra appliance while they are there (I am not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure)
I charge £47.00 labour + £15.00 per extra appliance while I am there.
If they forget to tell me on the phone (they tell me when I am already there) I will give them a rough estimate without touching it. If it takes more time and I have to take the top off etc then I tell them £15.00 + parts

Re: The cheek of the bloke!

I usually give my customers a card & I offer to put a sticker on the inside of a cupboard door so they know where my number is in an emergency (They will buy new appliances more often than change kitchen cupboards)
most seem to like the idea as they know where to find me & which appliances I repair are on the sticker 😀

    Thanks guys
I will call today to check. This customer has loads of parts for this machine that were left by the Bosch engineer who couldn’t repair a previos fault, so he just changed parts and left them ther apparently 😀
These include a door switch, 2 PCB’s & display PCB

Re: How long in the trade?

I started in this trade straight from school in 1976, working for a small local shop.
Went self employed in 1988 when that company decided to chuck it all in.
I can’t see myself working for anybody else in the future although I have been offered a couple of jobs in the last few years

Hi and thanks for the replys on this post.
Spinfast, my wife was just glancing over my shoulder when she read your reply and said that you sound like a clone of me :rolls:
I have not yet started taking my laptop but I too often take Buster with me, and yes he is a Staffie 😀
This is an interesting development for the future that may help.

I dont think it is yet what I am looking for but you can see the way things are going and I think it is being aimed at “mobile proffesionals”

    Re: diplomat dishwasher adp 8224

I have the same model sticking on programe (not heating), after tapping the thermostat in desperation (only a slight tap) it started heating. Maybe this is the problem with your machine ?
Which reminds me, does anyone have the part number for this & where can I get one ?

    Regards
    Toni
