ParticipantRe: Which LG washer to avoid?
LG are a million miles better than many other brands available at the moment, as for Miele well yes ….Until you look at the cost of spare parts! If you know what you are doing with LG then they are simple to repair and the cost of parts are far below most others. The direct drive motor is one you will not find on any other UK sold washing machine.

ParticipantRe: RANCO stat for Liebherr
Thanks R600a …….out of interest any idea what the digits after K59 are for? I guess part of it is capillary length?
Ordered VT9 from connect and having looked at the ranco website it seems the genuine VT9 is cheaper than the copy one!!!
FRG6600 at £2.05
FRGVT9 at £4.99trotter
ParticipantRe: Miele WT945 wont start on timed drying
Yeah it is a washer/dryer Seamy. BUT the dryer control is completely separate i.e. you choose either one of the sensor programmes or timed drying, on the sensor drying progs it is fine but when I select any of the timed drying progs (20,40 60 mins) it just beeps and goes into the anti crease/finish mode It is a real odd one – never come across this before!

ParticipantRe: SMEG selector switches HELP!!!!
Thankd for the suggestion Dave, BUT….
….I ordered the top oven switch from servevast (the ‘photo showed it as identical to the one I need) The new one they sent is identical to the one from Connect. I called Servevast and they say it is a modification “Can I have a wiring update for the mod then please?” ….NO they only give those to there own engineers!!
FFS!!! Is it me? Connect are in communication with the supplier still although email responses to the supplier take more than a week it seems.

ParticipantRe: Should of got a deposit.
It seems we all charge in different ways and what works for me in my area may not work for you in your area. One thing I know is that we are NOT the cheapest by a long way, however perhaps the fact that we have glowing reviews and appear to offer better overall value keeps us busy?
I would say if you aren’t getting the work then look at your business from your potential customers point of view – and then ask am I shopping purely on price alone? What else would make me choose one repairer over another?
When you buy tyres for your van do you buy from the cheapest supplier? You may do, but not if you have to waste half a day waiting for them to be fitted! Also if someone else is a little more expensive but checks all your fluid levels and does a wash and polish while the tyres are being changed……

ParticipantRe: Impatient and ignorant
“I have an oven in pieces” rather than “Just off on the School run” would maybe sound a little more professional?
I do sympathies but as in previous posts, I think that if this is a common problem maybe you should be saying “Yes I will get to you today – I have an appliances in pieces at the moment let me call you back in twenty minutes to confirm a convenient time slot”
I know it’s easy to comment after the event…..

ParticipantRe: Guarantee on a replacement product
kwatt wrote:Well then, here’s a fun part and I’d need to check it but…
If the manufacturer is saying that they will not honour the original warranty from point of sale then it will most likely (almost certain) that the retailer will have to do so and pick up the tab for any work from a legal standpoint.
The original contract is between the retailer and the customer.
It’s up to the retailer to try to win the argument with the manufacturer.
K.
Thanks KW …..I have just had a conversation with the manufacturer and they have said that, in fact the machine IS still in warranty (2 years from date of replacement)and they will send contact the letting agent to arrange a visit! That was a little worrying for a while especially as the 92kg appliance is in a third floor flat :eeek:trotter
ParticipantRe: Guarantee on a replacement product
Martin wrote:The manufacturer is entitled to set whatever guarantee period it wishes. And from what you tell us that is more than long enough for this rubbish product anyway! 😉
?????
But having set the guarantee period surely it is reasonable to expect them to stick to it? You are correct in your assumption of the quality of manufacturer Martin however it isn’t helpful in this instance :rolls:trotter
ParticipantRe: Guarantee on a replacement product
kwatt wrote:The warranty only runs from the original DOP.
Because the appliance is exchanged the warranty is very rarely ever extended or renewed from the date a new one is supplied.
Therefore it would be correct that the warranty expired in September last year.
K.
The original DOP was September 2011 and if the warranty only runs from original DOP then the warranty lasts until September 2013?

Sounds like a relay on the module. Although I haven’t ever come across this particular fault 🙁

ParticipantRe: Hacked Off About Internet Pricing?
Just picked up on this thread and smiled to myself at the comment “Promotions and exclusivity with certain products” In my experience most retailers either online or High St take an exclusive product …..And rip the price and margin to shreds!
I may upset a lot of people but the problem is retailers themselves, nearly all of them try to compete on price! When has anyone who owns a showroom said to a manufacture that they will charge THEM for the space used to display THERE products? I even get calls from people wanting a discount on ISE …..They get zero discount but 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} service – the choice is the customers. -
