Just thought I would add a bit more!
If the soap dispenser is leaking pull the drawer out and block the first couple of rows of holes with silicone sealant.

This stops the leaking which still occurs sometimes even when you replace the dispenser! It will also stop the problem of water running along onto the electronics.

    😀

    Re: LG direct drive

I would think it unlikely that the damp conditions would be the cause….I am guesing it has been okay up to now?

If you have changed the motor it is likely to be the power supply board, however I have had one or two of these with a harness fault!

I am not sure on the direct drive models but on the belt drive I found a fracture in the cable right near to where the motor plug connects. It was not visible, but a wiggle of the cable bought up the fault whilst on spin.

The machine assumed there was a tacho fault.

    🙂

I cannot believe the question!!! 😮

There is no doubt whatsoever that the customer should be charged. I would perhaps consider not charging if it was an emergency that caused her to be out.

Given the fact that she claims she was in and also offered no apology! I would probably demand the payment up front and then not turn up for the return appointment and say “now you know how it feels” Just joking of course but VERY tempting all the same 😆

    Re: Corgi

Given the cost of becoming corgi registered ….and I am not! I would say that you are undervalued by a mile at £50 and to be honest £75 is very fair.

I think this is a common problem for independants in that many of us are very good engineers but running a business is a whole different skill.

If you are charging £50 and are a self employed, basic rate tax payer, just remember that from that fifty quid you can take away fifteen of it for tax & insurance. leaving a huge? £35 BEFORE you then take away other costs such as van (Fuel, tax, insurance, servicing, tyres etc).

Of course there are other costs incurred – just for the pleasure of serving your customer. Having worked all that out, I hope you don’t have to go back again ‘cos something goes wrong! Then you are into paying the customer for allowing you the pleasure……etc etc

It is your buisiness! But for me…………I coul;dn’t care less what anyone else charges because I am the best engineer my customer could ever wish to meet :worthy: and therefor they will be so pleased with my work they will be happy to pay what I charge! And just so they know that… I tell them!!!

    Richard,
I had one similar to this with a board fault JUST 18 months old, because the customer was French and his english was not the best I offered to book the call for him under the “Free” 5 year parts guarantee.

I even went to the trouble of quoting “Customer service :rotfl: ” the correct part number……….That was there chance to refuse the “Free” parts!!!

Because I had diagnosed the fault by inspecting the piece of shy t they said the warranty was now invalid :rolls:

And there was me thinking the appliance had to inspected by a competent engineer apparantly it doesn’t matter as long as he/she is employed by the manufacture ???????????

    Re: can anyone help

Ce is current error a common problem with these is the broken wire – often inside the motor plug. Otherwise you are looking at a motor or board.

A close inspection of the plug is needed and give the wires a decent tug!

    Re: Beko WMA 1512W

    Chris,
Are you SURE the machine empties? I have been to three of these with similar faults (Won’t stAY ON SELECTED PROG AND DOES NOTHING) And the pump has been open circuit.

I think I am right in saying that the beko dial clicks round the same as indesit to indicate a fault somewhere.

It may be worth just connecting another pump just to make sure!

    Hope that helps?
    Andrew

    Mike
Thanks for that!…..I am even more confused now ‘cos having removed the base to check again for blockages – nothing. Tried again and it has now completed two succesful dry cycles!

I will go back and check out all the points you mention. THANKS A MILLION! 😀
