Select program position 2 while the DW is off then press the start button and energize the DW and keep pressing on the button for 3 seconds.
All of the indicators turns on for 2 seconds after entering the test mode.
After entering the short program mode, press “start” button and begin for the short program. Short program follows the steps below.i tried that but it does not work. do I hold it down the start button or keep pressing within three seconds? Do I press the power button on while holding down the start button?
From what you described looks like a reset mode and it appears to do just that.

keithwilliams wrote:does the drain hose climb then fall away to outlet or is there loads of it lying on the floor.
if the latter then the entire hose will be full of water and may be a bit much for the pump to get going.other than that if this is a recent machine with underneath access ive had one where the beige coloured elbow on the drain hose had “delaminated” inside the bend and a flap of rubber was blocking the pipe. blowing through was ok but it wouldnt let water through.
hope this helps
no water on base just inside sump. It pumps out just fine, no obvious blockage. Will try again and see if it pumps out well on next appt. As for blowing through, I blew in the water through the pipes and it went through with ease.I would be gutted if it is pcb problem, I lose money on this. Those genuine pump costed me a fortune.
I will pay closer attention to the wirings. The client is on holiday at the mo, so I await for his call…

My experience on Bosch appliances, you cannot mess with it using parts not designed/built for this particular model. It is best to follow the advice. Bosch appliances are fickle when it comes to putting things right, do it well and it will reward you. Failing that, you will end up hating the appliance and start wishing you had taken the advice in the first place. Few more nights of washing up never hurt anyone!

Martin, you made it sound like looking for needle in haystack. Client got second opinion, I did not charge her full price of call out. I rather someone with more expertise on Bosch to come out rather than from me. It’s the first solid plastic based machine I worked on. TBH, I never liked this type of machines due to poor access and lack of visibility. Mind you it was such a shame that the guarantee ran out a month ago. I have installed a few on those but not repaired one yet. I will face my demons….;-)

I went to a job with hotpoint dryer not heating as well hotpoint washer door not opening. It was in a lean to room and it was 80 to 90 cm wide. Machines was in the room first, then built a work top around it rather tightly. Unable to pull it out to reach the plugs. In tumble dryer on the door, it was packed with fluff.
Me – you need to throw this away (the fluff as thick as pillow)
Cust – why do I need to throw it away? What a waste. Can I wash it?
Me – you can try wash it but it will block your washing machine, trust me, simply throw it away
Cust – are you sure I can’t wash it?It was one of those conversation that you cannot keep your cool and wanting a hammer … Walked out of the job cos she wouldn’t listen.

I visited a dishwasher of similar nature. Machine stopped mid cycle and not draining. Removed the water from sump, quite a few plum stones, pop corn kernels but nothing to show the reason for to draining. I decided to open up the inside by removing the side panels, there are water on the base which indicates leak somewhere. Owing to the nature of design, it’s tricky to locate the leak, no means of getting access from front or back only sides. Pathetic if you ask me. I checked the obvious points such as wash motor, heater unit but they are bone dry. Which leaves the drain pump which I could not see. The worse thing is that it leaks onto the kitchen floor rather contained in the base. Very frustrating, I thought maybe inlet valve but it’s completely dry.
I could hazard a guess, a hairline crack on the plastic base from the sump? I can’t see that happening either.
I could be kicking myself over this!

Turned out that the pipe connecting from sump to condensing came loose. Could not explain why this happened.
Secured it with debor and screw clamp. Looks like it back in working order.
Dishwasher looks simple enough to work on but there are too many screws! The worse thing is they use two different types of screws, why can’t they keep it the same throughout?

Probably, it’s a houseful of two police officers, two teenage boys – very active family who loves the outdoors. The rugby shirts, school uniforms, muddy PE kits etc. They all work hard and play hard. The laundry room is a testimony of what they do in their spare time. I don’t blame them really,
As long they are happy to keep paying for the repair, no skin of my nose.

The fault on the dryer is when you press start, the machine starts and stops when you release the button. I agree that I don’t come across it very often but this dryer, same fault again a year later. Either it was very heavily used or simply poor workmanship of the pcb relays.
I checked for insulation, etc and it passed with flying colours.

R600a – Does it take time or was it easier to do the job? Are the client happy with it? What will happen to the invoice, do you post it to them or email?

ParticipantRe: Top iPad & iPhone Apps
I am just mooting at the idea of using the iPad for job sheet and impose it on invoice as there are some great apps for that. There is a risk of over complicating things and too reliant on the iPad so paper based job sheet and invoices will always be your friend.
Although I would have liked a portable printer that prints out invoice rather than me emailing to the client who I only get to see once (I hope). Besides I am not an apple employee that carries one size fits all gadget. Did you see their iPhone that you can put your credit card and pay? Anyway I think the client would rather see me turn up with spanners rather than gadget laden, if they want gadget then they should call out 007! 😆

Dare I say it? Facebook is good on iPad.
The calculator pro is the best one. Never had one so big!
Took me months of thinking it through and weighing up the pros and cons of ipad2, decided to take the plunge, had no idea how much it transformed my business for the best.
The iCloud facility is a must cos the missus at home just look at my diary on the iMac and book in appointments and job sheets whenever the calls come through. Same vice versa. We had to upgrade our mac from snow leopard to Lion. The downside is that I lose the PC supported files such as doc files, xls files, ppt files. Do anyone know any apps that will work apart from Numbers?
thought Microsoft got into trouble for dominating the market for software limitations, looks like Apple is doing the same thing and got away with it.

ParticipantRe: Cleaning carbon dust off motor
I have just bought “keyboard” cleaner (looks a bit like a mini fire extinguisher or canister for fog horn although I do not mind making some noise!) and a Karcher wet ‘n’ dry vac. I seem to do a lot of unblocking drain pumps these days, so I decided to purchase a wet vac to speed up the job to minimise flooding the area.
Fed up with filter chamber being too low to the floor and taking forever to empty. I am devising a type of vessel (impoverish take-away tray) that you just slide it under the filter chamber, open up the filter screw, let water dribble out, put vac hose on the vessel so that it is sucking away. The downside is that the vac is taking up space in the van.
Mental note – must look for bigger van…Sorry it was change of subject.
