ParticipantRe: Neff Single Oven not getting hot enough
The circotherm speed apears to be OK and I couldn’t see any problem with the door seal or hinges. I will check the speed the oven heat to 150C and check the wattage of the element fitted.
Thanks,
Keith.

ParticipantRe: PUBLIC LIABILITY INS QUOTES
I use MMA Insurance. I found they were competetive and the excess was just £100. My cover isn’t as high as your looking for but might be worth contacting for a quote.
I took this insurance out through a broker, A-Plan Insurance Commercial (Luton) phone: 01582733757Keith.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi pressure pots
Hi Rob,
I always removed the unit and used the bent coat hanger with running water in the sink. Water up the walls and the kitchen window!
Since reading the what’s in your toolbox thread
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=471I found the syringe (thanks to Martin) good for this. Attach a peice of pressure swith tube and you can flush water right into the chamber where the blockage is.
These syringes are available on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/100ml-NEW-Measuring-Syringe-For-Hydroponics-Nutrients_W0QQitemZ7718480534QQcategoryZ3186QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. Since acquiring one I have found it also useful for draining dishwasher sumps and bases.Twoten
ParticipantRe: Help Yourself First
I would have signed up a while ago but there were a few elements of the agreement I disagreed with or felt I couldn’t conform to.
1) I agree with Andy2 regarding the guarantee. I accept you get very few parts that fail within the year but if it does it’s bound to be something expensive with very little margin leaving you with a loss.
2) Two million public liability insurance? I’m currently covered for 1 million and the agents I do work for don’t appear to have a problem with that. Am I under insured?
3) Messages left by customers to be answered within 1 working day?
Offer a call within 48 hours. Is this working hours? If not, if the call came in on a Friday afternoon I would not be able to attend until the following Monday. I am a sole trader and do not (or rather will not) work weekends. Also as a sole trader what happens when I decide to have a holiday. It wouldn’t be possible to comply with your charter.Apart from the listed problems I already comply with the other requirements in some areas exceed them.
I think the idea is good and engineers will find it beneficial but I am a bit concerned that it’s going to generate calls were the customer has already ‘had a go’ and you know the problems you can walk into when that’s happened.

Good old WD40 will get most sticky marks off. I found out how useful it is when the ‘old’ Servis machine door seals used to melt on the front edge of the inner drum. it was like chewing gum. i went through several customers garages and kitchen cupboards trying solvents and anything else I thought might work when I had the WD40 in the van all the time.
Great or getting the grease marks of the floor when you shoot a bearing across the kitchen.
Don’t forget to award the customer points for presentation as they skid across the kitchen on it afterwards 😀

ParticipantRe: Help on old Zanussi washer
Have you tried running water through the drain hose at mains pressure?
It’s a possibility the pipe may have a plug of broken scale that has turned into sludge. It’s surprising but you can push a stick or pipe through it and think it’s clear but once you start pumping water through it the plug reforms and creates a blockage.

ParticipantRe: 3 in one dishwasher tablets
This reminds me of a call some years back when a customer called because her 18 month Indesit Dishwasher was leaking.
I spent ages goig through all the usual and not drop spilled out.
As you know these no fault founds can take a hell of a lot longer because you have to cover all angles. Unable to find the fault I said carry on using the machine and call should it happen again.
3 weeks later she called, “it’s still doing it”. Again I sat with the machine trying everything I could to see why it should leek, still nothing.
Again left, call me as soon as it happens.
3 weeks later she called again. I went round and still wouldnt leak. From further conversation with the customer she said “the Indesit engineers that came round during guarantee couldn’t find it either!
“Hold on…. this has been happening from new?”
“Oh yes and Indesit couldn’t find out why…”
“Tell me, how do you use the machine”?
“I put the dishes in and turn it on”.
“No, tell me from the begining”
“what do you mean”?
“OK, you put the dishes in”?
“yes”
“You put the detergent in”?
“yes”
“Then what”?
“I put the rinse aid in”
“What, every time”? 💡
“Yes”
“do you spill some in the machine”? 💡 💡
“Maybe”
Problem solved 😀

ParticipantRe: Zanussi DW925 – No water, wont work!!!!
i took out all the fittings and filters, and there’s a blue fly wheel (I think this is for the spray) this stays in one spot
It’s not unusual for people to be mistaken and think the machine is not filling when it does fill but fails to pump the water round the tub.
If this “blue fly wheel” is under a half round cover at the rear of the sump laying across the machine it sounds like it could be the pump impellor. See if it will turn by hand, if not the pump has seized.

This driver will remove and refit a set of Zanussi tub bolts on one charge (just). You might have to start some of the bolts by hand if very tight.

ParticipantRe: What is the most useful tool in your toolbox?
I know there are some that don’t believe in them, but one of the best tools I’ve purchased is a rechargeable screwdriver.
I tried one of these small cheap drivers and it was next to useless. You’d have to turn it by hand to loosen the screw and it was quicker using a conventional screwdriver in the end.
Then I tried a larger more powerful driver. It was like using a hammer to crack a nut. Cumbersome, heavy and wouldn’t fit in the tolbox.
Along came the ‘DeWalt inline driver’ Small enough for the toolbox (will straighten) powerful enough for most tasks. The battery can last up to a week in normal use. You can use all manor of extensions and adapters fitting hex bits, Torx, and 1/4″ drive Sockets.
It’s ‘the puppys bits’

Thanks for the post earlier in this forum about the large syringe. Never thought of using one in the past, now a useful part of my kit.

Here we go again……….. 😡
Customer just called to say the machine worked twice. The third time it stopped working (surprise surprise) and now there is no heat and the machine keeps bleeping.
My guess is the machine has overheated and the element overheat stat has tripped. I’m wondering if this fault may be caused by one of the temperature sensors. 💡
Any ideas would be appreciated.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WTE6920GB/01 T/D cuts out
I don’t believe. 😯
Customer just called and said the machine works fine.
After removing the blockage and running tests, the machine failing, running further tests in disbelief then having it fail again I left the customer explaining I would have to investigate this further.
Customer has tried it again (I don’t know why) and it works.I can’t explain why but hey……it works.
So I guess we’re back to…….. :worthy: ………. Martin.
Customer is going to use the machine for a couple of days (and boy will it be used) and if no problem cheque in the post.
