    Re: COP Draft

I’d go with the above & would kick it off by saying I’d volunteer to be the point of contact for Wales…?

    Re: COP Draft

I said that monitoring would be a problem last September!

The WTA then must employ someone, as said, even if part time, soley to ‘monitor’ members…?

Maybe go the whole hog & get someone full time? Visiting repairers up & down the UK (over time of course) face to face selling the WTA, getting members, taking ownership of general daily issues that might arrise as & when the WTA grows to a larger TA, and also, be responsible for vetting & monitoring of members…?

Every member could then have ONE person as a point of contact should they need to call upon the TA for anything, and the WTA would grow & the OFT issue resolved!!

    Just an idea! 🙂

Any thoughts on my post about PCCS attending? He’ll obviously need a bit of notice to make his arrangements to attend & prepare a presentation…?

    Re: Feb 2010 meeting

I could arrange for Neil Writing, from PC Control Systems to attend, I know Ken has been working on a Service Management system, so depending on how far that is away really.

I spoke to Neil (off the record) back in September, about the possibility of PCCS giving a discount to WTA members for the software, the outcome was that he would attend, demonstrate and leave information for the guys, a discount is on the table but obviously I didn’t persue it anymore because of what Ken is working on.

It was left at “If we can do anything, give me a call” so it’s up to you?

I’ve used Service Base for 4/5yrs… It is very good, easy to use and very affordabe! Not only that, I’ve had 3 or 4 problems with it within that time, one phonecall to Neil, and the issues were rectified within the hour! Fantastic after sales 😀

    Re: Comet Engineers

WOW! I’m an ex Comet engineer too! I suggest you interview your applicants more thoroughly Dan…? Finding out 3 Months after recruiting that someone is incapable of carrying out safety check is to be blunt, pretty poor man management!

When I had my interview at Comet a few years ago now, I not only had an interview, but a written assesment, within that assesment were questions about safety checks.

As per your comment about ‘part fitters’, a lot of fully capable employed or self employed engineers might ‘throw parts’ at a machine, because of fear of recalls!

WOW this thread has got me on one! Can I just say for the record… Employed engineers are just as good & capable as self employed IMO… I know I’ve rang a Hotpoint engineer once or twice for info! Only difference between Self employed engineers & employed engineers are bills! End of.

Apologies for the rant… Just didn’t like the thread!

    Re: COP Draft

Ok… Lawrence, how are we submitting the final draft to the OFT? Hard copy via post or email application?

Would like to get this sent off, one way or the other by the meeting in September.

What’s the best way forward? Shall we allocate an hour or two one evening and chat through it via MSN video chat or Shall we meet up before the meeting some services somewhere half way? (I can get to Reading area pretty easily). Either way, I don’t mind, but would like to announce at the meeting that the application has been submitted.

    Ade 🙂
