    Re: comet

Got six months to play with. One of the lads went to a job local on Friday and the girl works for HR for a major local manufacturer. They will be looking for gas engineers to fix their cookers in the next few weeks, possibly req 6 in our region. As soon as I get them I will forward them on mate

Wondered where you vanished to CometBez. As you say, the skills the lads have got are pretty wide and I’m sure that the manufacturers will snap them up pretty quickly.

Think that’s what we are all hoping K. I worked out today that there are approx 500 engineers, 60 inventory staff, 100+ delivery and 2000+ other that would be affected if not more.

I’ve checked already Bob, tried trade place and distraparts but no help even with product code. We used to stock loads of them as well about 5 years ago

Re: Hotpoint – Indesit Fridge Freezer Fires

Weve been going out to this fault for a couple of years now. Hotpoint supplied a mod and details back in 2009. Never had one catch fire but my centre has probably done about 300 mods in 24 months due to failure. Its not if it goes but when. Keeps us in a job I suppose 8)

As Loopey says, very very common. part number is 41014503 if model is what you say ( 22 point selector ) it should have an orange shaft. the other two types are 41014502 – 16 position – white shaft and 41028011 – 12 position, purple shaft.

    Re: 1950s kelvinator fridge

Seen a few of those. That model was one of the first made at the Bromborough factory after the Crewe factory burnt down. We had a couple of them in the show room that came back to us from customers after they had rang up to say they had old fridges still working. We gave them a brand new one and collected them and I cleaned them up in the Development laboratory and checked them out.I left Kelvinators ( CANDY ) in 2001 and they were still there. The factory is still there but it is business units but i think the office and show room are still Candy. The oldest working one was from 1924, wooden outer body, door seal was made of red leather and the compressor had to be topped up with oil every 6 months. Was still working and the kelvinator badge was the size of a cricket ball and made of cast bronze. They don’t make them like that anymore

Thanks to both of you. The engineer just rang me and asked, I had forgotten about the job ( Old age creeping in at 46 haha ). Kev was the oracle of Gias, such a shame he chose to sun himself and spend his days relaxing.

    Re: Samsung american rsh1dbbp iceing

Think this has been covered in previous posts, Samsung have brought out a mod. The kit comes with a new sensor and instructions to alter the eprom file to extend the defrost. The heater stat and t/f on the first batch ate prone to have the wires come adrift so will overfreeze due to no defrost. The mod kit part number is DA8101997A

    Re: Indesit washing machine explodes

The bracket doesn’t stop the tub exploding, it just helps keep the insides, inside when it does 😯
