Re: Neff /Bosch oven hinge problems

Check part numbers for each model, there are different versions of those hinges for the stainless doors. If you’re fitting the correct ones for the model then you’ll probably need to fit new hinge bearings 172647 too. Wizard

    Re: The ultimate troubleshooting tool!

So, you want it to tell them how to do the repair, do you ? Then we’d have no work at all. It is a tool that is not Brand specific and very generalised to help the average Which subscriber decide on the best course of action. Most people who use Which do so to check out new machine reviews, so if a few decide on a repair instead then its good news, isn’t it ??

    Re: The ultimate troubleshooting tool!

What exactly is the problem ? This seems to be very helpful for Which subscribers in steering them towards a sensible course of action when they have a fault instead of immediately going on the currys website to order a new machine. It ultimately means more work for us. There doesn’t seem to be any advice that you couldn’t get either from the owners manual or the public area of THIS WEBSITE !!

Subs, these pcb’s show the time the program took last time it did it. If you’ve had a heater fault then the prog times will be extended. Get the customer to run the machine and if all is now working correctly then it will reset itself. Wizard

Almost definitely. If its overfilling and setting off the mushroom then it’s unlikely to be anything else. Wizard.

Re: Is this job worth it ??

I’m with Bagman and Cras on this. I’m a one man band having built up a nice sized customer base over the last 7.5 years. I don’t advertise so all new work is by recommendation. On the most part my customers do appretiate what I do and on the rare occasion they don’t then it’s ‘goodbye, not interested’. I make a reasonable living and am home every night with my young family. Sometimes the volume of work in either direction stresses me out but it’s never long before the tables turn the other way. I often think about taking on staff, but I read a thread like this one and think myself lucky to be how I am. I’d love a holiday once in a while but just can’t justify the loss of earnings. The only advise I can give is ‘keep things small’. Don’t get involved in big cotracts with manufacturers/insurance companies, then when you feel you must tell somebody to ‘go forth and multiply’ then it doesn’t have any impact on your other work. I know this doesn’t help you much Bryan but it does seem that you need a change of direction. You’re a legend amongst refrigeration engineers, I for one know that it’s a waste of time giving any advise on a tech thread that you’ve replied to.
Final word. Try and forget about those that don’t appretiate you and spare a thought for those of us that do. Namely anybody you’ve helped on this site.

I had one of these doing exactly this just last week. I came to the same conclusion as nomadpaul, so checked the door lock and connections to pcb. No faults found but when it was all back together it ran perfectly. Put it down to a poor connection on the pcb. It’d be worth giving all the connectors a wiggle. Wizard

    Re: Bosch SGS45A02GB/36 Leaking

Been trying to get one of these tools since I first wrote the post. Original machine repaired by BSH but I now have a SMS50E02gb/02 with a leak from the side chamber. BSH are saying that the part no. doesn’t exist and are not being at all helpful (used to be a though and through Bosch man but am getting more and more p***ed off with their attitude). Can anybody help with an alternative part number or some way I can get hold of one. (even a photo of one would help so I can make one). Thanks, Wizard.

Thanks Simon, had already looked at that but didn’t make complete sense without being in front of the hob in question. Going back tomorrow to see if it makes sense when I’m staring at it. Wizard.

Yes it was ego, but didn’t get the number off it as it’s all got to come apart to see the number. Expected to get the right part from Bosch. I suppose I’ll have to treat them with the same contempt as other manufacturers – not impressed !

    Re: Hotpoint EW84X no grill

You might want to check the mains terminal block. I had one of these where the links hadn’t been fitted very well which caused them to arc and subsequently burn out. Gave a very similar fault. Wizard.
