ParticipantRe: Safety Issue on Hotpoint Dishwashers
When this machine was sent to a test laboratory to gain it’s safety certification it would more than likely have the correct covers etc in place.
But as i’ve personally worked in one of these said laboratories i know for a fact what goes for test and what the is sent out in to the public arena is a different story.
Example… A very large ORANGE DIY store sent an electric oven for test to our labaratory. It passed the extremely stringent BS test’s (most stringent in the world i might add.) 😀 Next thing we hear of people complaining of overheating and being burned. 🙁
We visit the above store, purchase the oven off the shelf and begin to strip the oven down. Surprise surprise no cooling fan. 😯
Started testing again and the metal fascia panel was reaching temperatures in excess of 100 Degree C 😯 .
When we asked the store why, the answer we got was it saved us a couple of pounds per unit 👿
Needless to say it cost them an extra £60 to correct each oven sold and to correct what they had left in store :rotfl: Plus compensation to the unlucky ones who got burned.
So the moral of this story is DO NOT MESS WITH THE STANDARDS

Excellent work Martin.
This will cost them big time either in recalls or having to send an engineer to every one of these products sold to be rectified. I really wounldn’t like to be the designer 😈
All this to save a couple of pence per machine 😡 😯

STOP it’s not the clock.
There is a fuse in the back of the oven. The top oven is on a totally different supply than the bottom so this is the cause.
Depending on the model it’s either a thermal fuse type or a self resetting switch which cannot take the current when an element blows.
Should cost pence to fix rather than big pounds

ParticipantRe: NEB ceramic hob cutting out
Just a note B&Q NEVER offered a five year parts on the NEB range. This guarantee was only on the HOMARK range which B&Q dumped in favour of the NEB range. 👿
They decided to go it alone in the applaince world to buy and badge there own products. Look how long that lasted 😯
Personally i don’t think it is the board. I would defo say it’s an installation fault (ventilation). with the front large ring being so close to the PCB.
On the PCB is a Thermal switch which will activate if there is not enough ventilation beneath the hob (top rail of the cabinet should have been removed between oven and work surface).
Good look with the solid plate I give it about 2 weeks before the stainless steel turns gold in colour.
Hope the information helps and the guarantee part is very true

It’s only a matter of time and a few hundred million quids that the numbskulls at the electricity board will find the reostat though to adjust the voltage 😆
There was a lot of tests done regarding the voltage difference.
2 light bulbs were tested one at 230 and 0ne at 240.
the one at 230 was approximately 40 degrees hotterPossible fire hazzard if you ask me 😯

Thats exactly why we have premature oven element failures
all European appliances are rated at 220-230 👿

This is one sad sad man who really needs to get a life or another woman 😯
If he’s collected all these noises from the machine surely he could use a mixer put them together with a beat and get it in the charts. :rotfl:
I realy hope this isn’t you K

Hi Bob
Your right the standard is BS EN 60335 -1 1999
It doesn’t matter if the door isolates the power, the fact remains that live terminals are accessible, that door switch could very easily fail???
Not sure what clause it is will have to look in the standard in my other office.
If this is the case and a they are making these without this protection, they could end up with a nast recall or worst case somebodys death on there hands.
I really hope they do read these pages.

I think Elizabeth means that her company needs engineers to emngrate to NZ to work as an engineer not to work over here.

ParticipantRe: Homark grill not working
Hi Sharvale
This oven has two internal fuses 1 for the top and 1 for the bottom.
It actually looks like a resistor connected to a ceramic terninal block, usually located towards the top of each oven at the back.
one side of the fuse will have a pointed coloured end.
Hope this helps.
Dave Conway may be able to source one or try Caremark

PS Make sure it’s disconnected form the supply :plug: :zap:

ParticipantRe: TOUCH CONTROL HOBS
I’ve got a Touch control Induction Hob. Absolutely fabulous, quicker cooking, superb controlability and extremely easy to keep looking pristine.
Wife was very sceptical at first cos she didn’t understand how you could cook something with no heat. Now she would never have another gas again.
Recommend them anyday.

P.s It will cost abit for some decent compatible cookware though.

Hi Bob
According to CORGI’s Tech Bulletin TB64 (still current according to CORGI). You are allowed to work on the electrical side of any gas appliance as long as the gas pipe work is uninterrupted.
Also according to CORGI technical (wouldn’t give it in writing though) any person can disconnect a bayonet fitting as they are an end consumer fitting.
Imagine if you had to get a CORGI engineer every time you wanted to clean under your range style cooker (not cheap).
Like every body say’s it is certainly in the GREY area

ParticipantRe: Homark ignition button
Hi Caluna
If the Hob has a slanted control panel then the model number is 02-710124. These were about when this oven was sold. If it is contact Caremark they will be the only ones who have the button i’m afraid.

ParticipantRe: Homark hob ignition required
Hi Stephen
Given the model number of the oven is 70211/L i’d have a very good guess (98{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct), the hob is 01-710124L.
I take it that it is LPG. I know the for a fact that the oven was sold by B&Q around 1995 to 1998 and it is actually made by STOVES (Glen Dimplex as it’s now known).
The hob was made in house by Bernstein Group PLC, please could you tell me if it’s the continuous spark (i.e Pres button and click click click) or single shot (press release click) and i should be able to get you the correct number, or other wise contact Caremark and quote the above hob model number.
Hope this helps and puts a bit of insight to your appliances, but please tell me if i’m wrong cos i will be gutted 😳
