good news is if its covered they swop the machine as far as i know

its not uncommon for door lock wires to burn out on hotpoints even outside their recalled machines

Thanks for you’re reply. The child lock is off so I’ve checked the recall again and it’s affected by this product safety issue

Thanks for you’re reply. A few months ago when I first heard about the recall my model was on the list but when I put the serial number in mine wasn’t effected.

I’ve removed the pump filter and only water comes out but once the water is removed the machine works again. Why shouldn’t you tilt the machine back.

Yes it’s the bent end. I seen them on ebay but they want between £20 and £49.99 for a second hand one.

Martin wrote:To check for bearing failure, power disconnected, remove the back panel and release the belt from the main drive pulley. Then from the front spin the inner drum by hand. It should be virtually silent and rotate freely. Any rumbling noise and the bearings are toast for sure. If the inner drum has any lateral (up and down) movement on the drive shaft the bearings are shot and so too often the shaft. If there’s a distinct scraping/metallic noise then it’s not the bearings but something caught between the inner drum and outer tub (bra wires, credit cards, hairgrips etc caught between).

    HTH?Thank you for your reply.

I will try what you said as I want to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it is the bearings as I know someone that had a noisy washing machine so they phoned the warranty company and they sent out an engineer and they said it was the bearings so he ordered the parts but when another engineer came out to fit the bearings he found it was a bra wire and not the bearings.

I do think it’s the bearing as before I asked how do I make sure it’s the bearings I tried pushing down on the drum but there didn’t seem to be any movement so I tried pushing up and you can feel movement and you can hear a slight knocking noise. I then put my hand on the inside of the drum and moved left and right and it feels rough.

Would you be able to tell me what kit to buy as I’m put off getting the bosch kit when the bearings have failed when the machine is used once a week..

    K.Thank you for your reply.

Would you know a definite way to tell if the bearings have gone as I don’t want to order the bearings to find it was something stuck in the drum. Also will I have to buy the bearing kit that comes with a seal or will I get away with buying the cheaper bearing set and not replacing the rubber seal.

Re: Is my tumble dryer ruined

I’ve removed the heater element cover and there was small bits of plastic in between the drum and back panel and also a small bit was stuck to the heating element,So I tried to remove the plastic from the heating element but the metal strip that goes through the springs has broken on two elements.

I’ve taken the side panel off but where should I be looking as there is no signs of burning and the drum turns freely.

Re: Is my tumble dryer ruined

When it was smoking it didn’t have any smell so could water have got on to the heater element. I’ve taken the top off and the belt is fine but when you turn the drum you can hear creaking on the right hand side. I will try and take the side panel off later to see if I can see anything.

Re: Is my tumble dryer ruined

It was running before it started to smoke but I haven’t tried it without the pipe as it frightened the shit out of me. My girlfriend did say the other day that the clothes wasn’t drying very good but would this be because the pipe was twisted and the water was going back in the dryer.

Re: Would you file down a teardrop bearing to make it fit

I replaced the original teardrop bearing over a year ago and I had no problem then but I think I used part number C00142628. This time I thought I was buying the same part number but I was sent a qualtex brg60 which uk whitegoods shop says it’s a low cost compatible teardrop.
