KeymasterRe: Rosieres 4040DB oven not heating up
Hi
the problem will most likely be the base element in the oven, turn the oven on and after a while see if you can feel any heat coming on the bottom of the oven.

In my case the capacitor was passing enough current to enable the control board to energise the compressor relay but not the defrost relay. Replacing the cheap-looking 0.68uF mains dropper capacitor (which looks identical to those pictured in one of the earlier posts) with a new X2 variant from bitsbox.co.uk has cured the problem. The old capacitor measured just 0.38uF. :eeek:
Unfortunately my F/F developed this fault a few months ago and, of course, I only noticed this thread last week. In the meantime we bought a replacement F/F out of desperation. I put the Whirlpool F/F in the garage in the hope that I could repair it at some later date. We’ll probably use it as a back-up now.
So it would appear that this problem is more wide-spread across the Whirlpool range than the thread title would suggest. Perhaps an FAQ entry is called for here?
Needless to say I’m pretty annoyed that failure of a £0.50 capacitor renders a 6 year-old F/F useless 😡 . I will, in future, try to avoid anything produced by Whirlpool and their sub-brands.

Hello all,
First post for me here and I’m supriesed I found it. I’ve read threw the entire thread (what a thread!) but I’ve not seen any follow ups from this post.
This is the FF I have (ARC7610) and I’m wanting to know if anyone can shed light on which capacitors I need to replace. The fridge and freezer have been sporadically not working for a week now. It may not be these, but at a few quid (I’m fairly confident with a soldering iron) to test doesn’t seem too much to me. Can anyone advise on which capacitors I’d need and does anyone have a link to a picture or a circuit digram for my model?
Thanks all
What a great site.

don wrote:Hi
There is the genuine American fridge freezers like Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana which will cost at least a £1000 for a quality machine and then you get the Korean clones like Samsung, LG and Daewoo for around the £700 mark.
Our buying guide on American fridge freezers is worth reading.
HTH 🙂
