Re: ‘No Call Out Charge’ beware!!!

Re; The “no call-out charge” debate, there is an ad in our local paper that seems to beg official attention.
Incredible it may be, but this bloke gets away with “Most jobs from just £12 plus parts” This ad has run for at least ten years without challenge or alteration!!! :eeek:

    Re: CORGI Tax?

All this does is to highlight the case NOT TO DO THE WORK…

Its more than possible that the falling numbers of gas repairers will continue to the point where networks are going to find it increasingly difficult to get cover.

I for one over the next couple of years plan to get out of GAS repairs and plans to strenghen the electrical work we do continue. Even if the electrical regulations change we can “afford” to change with it as this makes up the vast majority of our work.

What we have to do is perhaps form some sort of trade organisation to protect ourselves and obviously gain momentum through numbers. Shame the present trade organisation is not much use to us at this time!

It will be a very interesting year as other opportunities reveal themselves to the independent market.

Re: Daewoo fridge/Freezer Fridge not working

Thank You for all your help, but I have had no joy. The freezer packed in also and nothing would revived it. I tried everything.
I’m afraid to say I gave in and bought myself a brand new shiny separate Fridge and Freezer. RIP Daewoo.
I would like to say this website is really helpful and Thankyou all for your kind advice. I will be back in a few years when the new ones break down!!

    Re: SMEG Repairs

I had to issue court proceedings against SMEG after a year of tryng to get some new doors for a fridge/freezer that were warped.

On the sixth visit black doors arrived from Italy instead of chrome, that is when i sued them.

    Gavpo,

Thank you for your reply of 04/04/05.
    Sorry for not responding sooner.
I have been away from home but have now returned to face the problem.

The narrow pipes at the back of the fridge (outside) are black, not silver.
    Does this make a difference?

    Irene.

Re: Rosieres Bocuse – renovate or dump it?

The eBay Bocuse stove I was looking to break up went for more than I was prepared to pay, so now I’m in the process of getting quotes for official parts.

I was tempted though . . . but I knew the howls of protest I’d get from my wife as I lugged all those parts up to the loft.

Thanks kwatt, I always try not to overload the machine and I use as little powder as poss, but the streaks are there even if the machine is only half full, which is what confused me 🙂

Martin, thanks again, have done the service wash and found a lot of gunk around the seal and sort of under the drum. Will this go if I keep doing the service washes? And should I use Calgon on every wash including the service washes?

Many thanks again, you guys are great 😀

Re: Daewoo fridge/Freezer Fridge not working

I have just spoken to an engineer and he advised me that it is something to do with the Frost free models. apparently the circuit board inside needs its memory resetting. This can be done by unplugging the appliance, NOTE : just turning the switch off is not enough as the earth connection needs removing. Leave the Freezer door open to allow everything to defrost. I think the pipes inside may actually be frozen even though it is supposed to be frost free. Turn back on in the morning an the engineer assured me everything would be fine!!. No call out fee either !!

    Hope this helps..

    Re: Zanussi Aquacycle 1000

    Hello Martin,
    Thanks for your reply.
I will put my machine on a hot service wash now and see what happens.
I very rarely use a ‘quick wash’, only if I need something really quickly, probably only used it about 10 times since I bought the machine. Most times I use the washing machine on D which I think is 40 degrees, should I use a hotter one sometimes then? I occasionally use a delicates program but rarely.
So should I not use Calgon at all, or every so often, or what would you suggest?
Is the drain filter something I can clean myself? Where would I find it? I was finding fairly big lumps of limescale stuff in the filter thing at the front which is why I got the Calgon.
Is it best to use the calgon all the time if you get a new machine, presumably the limescale doesn’t get to build up then?
Sorry about all the questions 🙂 Just a bit confused by it all now 😯

    Cheers,
    Emma

Re: Daewoo fridge/Freezer Fridge not working

I appear to have the same problem! About the same age as well.
Take a look round the back and see if any of the pipes are frozen.
the pipe that comes out of the back of the freezer on mine was frozen. Once defrosted this pipe looks like its split somehow. If anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know.

    Ian
