Yes having checked out the possibilities the blower fan belt had come off. However when replaced it runs at only about 1 rev per second, which is not enough to drive the hot air through. Can you offer any further advice please.

Yep found them and removed – found singe screw behind each which I have removed but the brown side frames still seem to be fixed at the hob end – should I be removing the hob?

Thanks Dave, might I ask for a bit more detail.

There is a bronze front bezel that covers the front edge of the glass – Ipresume this just comes away with the screws removed. The back edge of the glass seems to go under the hob it there anything hidden under the hob? the two brown plastic side trime seem very firmly fixed to something But I cannot see any screws – I need some extra courage to tackle them, where do I put the screwdriver to start prising them and in which direction?

Thanks eastlmark,

I called engineer who showed up today. The flashing pre wash light signifies a memory error. This turned out to be a 00110 error which meant a drainage problem. Well i had discovered a clean filter so the engineer was perplexed as well.

He turned the machine on by holding down the start/pause button as well as the on/off switch. This cleared the memory and he tried the drainage function which worked fine. All he could suggest was a blockage that cleared through when he tested and reset the machine.

Not sure if this is helpful advice but at least i know how to reset the machine now!

I have unfortunately had 2 of these fridge freezers from MFI and they both packed in after 2.5 years. Both were due to an internal leakage. Had them both recharched but it only lasted about a month. The answer is DONT buy these units.

I have a EuroKera ceramic hob (2 normal & 2 halogen plates) in my kitchen.

Some liquid got into the “thermostat control knob” for one of the halogen plates & it is smoking when on. clearly it needs to be replaced.

Any idea who where i can get spares or who is able to repair this item (NW London)

We’ve just bought a Smeg oven. We followed the instructions to turn it on, but whilst the timer works, the oven does not heat up and simply goes through the timer cycle without warming up. Is there a simple way to turn it on?

Kevin, Dave – Thanks to both of you for your helpful responses!

Well I defrosted the fridge side and the temperature in there is a steady 14C at the sensor level. However it does feel colder at the bottom of the fridge. Freezer temperature is a steady -20C so no problem there. So it would seem that the compressor is fine.

I ran the self-diagnostic test and the error code indicated “Motor fan in refrigerator” issue. The fan was making a rattling noise previosuly so I am guessing that it has burnt out as it got slowly more frozen.

I think now I am going to need an engineer to –

a) Replace the fan motor
b) Do the system fix for the defroster that Kevin discussed (I must say I am surprised that the drain channel isn’t heated by design to prevent ice build-up).

Do you concur guys?

Anyone cover the London E14 area to do this?
