When the heat was working when i changed the stats i run it on a cooler cycle and it was not hot like you suggest and the drying light was on. im at a loss really!, to call hotpoint out its gonna be half the price of a new one dont know what to do i feel i like to have a go myself as you dont know who best to ring to look at it there is so many rip off merchants..

KeymasterRe: Hotpoint BFI62 error code
Martin,
I cleaned the filters a couple of days ago (when the light first started flashing).
I assume the sump is the unit where the filters sit – if so I cleaned that out as well and drained some water out as it was filthy and nearly overflowing back into the unit. Just checked both and they are still clear/clean and there is about an inch of clean water in bottom of sump (not sure if that is normal or not).
The machine drains/fills with water and seems to wash as per usual.
Thanks in advance
Dave

thanks for the reply, does the job require specialist equipment? i am mechanically minded and don’t mind having a go at repairs of things like washing machines, tumble dryers etc.

KeymasterRe: changed thermostats
Thanks for your information on my problem, there are 3 lights on my dryer
1. Active
2. Drying
3. Empty water
I do apologise it is the drying indicator which is stuck on at mo not the active, the active is lit when on but the drying one only usually comes on when its got the heat coming through then it goes off for a few seconds on a cooler spin but at the moment the drying light is constantly lit.admin

Thamks for the information Dave. Unfortunately there was no one listed in the @repairs or directories for my area.
If the part is £40.00, how much would you expect the labour to be?

KeymasterRe: What is the most useful tool in your toolbox?
got to be my pointy nose pliers with right angle on end, ideal for hotpoint brushes but also for those plynths where you cant get your fingers in anywhere, find a small gap poke them in turn and pull brilliant!. Then theres the hose clips they are great for them too.
