Re: Whirlpool fridge freezer – American Style – Model = S20

    evening,

Although both water and ice are not working they are on seperate water valves, both valves operated from the PCB located lower rear left corner.

Therefore do you have a water supply?

There are numerous faults with early versions of this appliance. Whirlpool have replaced the rear board because of umpteen failures’ with a modified one …however you need to replace the front user board too, as its not compatible with the original. £200 easily for the bits plus vat. There is also an issue with freezing of the water supply line to the ice maker)although this would not effect the water dispensor). The water cooling is done by the fridge….inside lower back there is a large coil of pipe and this is cooled by the fridge ….is it frozen? As there is also an issue with the air vane stat and the return vent (lower left hand side of the fridge) freezing up. This was due to too large an aperature to the fridge from the freezer evaporator to the fridge. There is a cure for this and if you need this PM me as it long winded and requires entry into the freezer evap section to sort out.

There’s more but hopefully this will sort out enough for you to make a visit. Ian you know how to speak to me if you want to but not 1st thing in the morning…

    Regards

    Kevin

Correction to original. On light stays on, it’s the Programme light and Wash Light which are flashing. I have checked the water supply and it is ok.

    Re: brandt

Thanks for the two posts appboy and alex……

Very different outcomes to the same problem. I was unavailable today for the call when it came from D&G so she is calling again tomorrow.

    If I may indulge…..
I have won the D&G TEQ award for outstanding service in 2001, 2002 and came second this year 2004. I have had a close relationship with D&G for over 5 years as first tier agent. During my troubles with NESN, D&G offered me a 0{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} interest loan to help finance my defence against them( strictly confidential info, that, please)…but it sets the scene for you. Bridie and I have excellent relations with D&G, even coming to my place to discuss the WEEE directive with two others within this forum a couple of years ago.
D&G also know my involvment within this site and I have discussed with D&G how they could work with UKW in the future.

So how is Therese going to approach me with my little revolt………I can hardly wait, but I also realize that I’m replacable. I am surrounded by larger and smaller firms who would love the chance to move up.

We will see. Got Connect here in the morning at 9am hope she holds off the call until I have dealt with them first.

I bought two SMEG ovens (one with a rotisserie) as a replacement for a twenty year old Creda with a rotisserie. Cost, almost £1,000 in a sale. The prongs on the rotisserie spit are so small that they will not hold the chickens I am trying to cook. The prongs illustrated in the user manual are much bigger. After battling with SMEG for ten months the only reply that we can get is that the rotisserie is to specification and that the chickens we are trying to cook are too big. The chickens are only about 1kg, it would be difficult to find a smaller bird. SMEG service at Abingdon is non-existent. I am sorry I changed, the timer on the Creda may have broken and the thermostat was playing up but it was ten times better than the SMEG.

I would recommend anybody to contact their local Trading Standards Office, they will advise you.

    Who are they branded for?

Is it B&Q & do they have a site with them on?

Or are the model number placed anywhere else, if so I’ll whip it out of the worktops & have another look.

    Thankyou.

Re: Whirlpool ADP970 start light flashing

Got home last night to find the kitchen had nearly flooded – problem with the washing machine. Just what I need in the run up to Xmas!

Traced problem to a partially blocked drain. Cleared this and now dishwasher and washing machine are OK.

Thanks to those who offered advice. Hope my experience helps someone solve their problem in the future.

Ditto the above, I am seeking one for a Grey electric Homark oven, the label being very feint seems to be model 18-700 etc.

    Identifying marks may be..
Silvered black knobs (which is peeling off)/analogue clock-timer/ oven temp knob/grill 0-3 knob/mode selection knob/oven/temp lights.

(are there any sites with pictures of these ovens on?)

    Re: brandt

Today, Therese will return my call and reading Alexs post carefully there are KEY points in there…..

    1) asking Alex to keep the subject low profile, to not spread unrest…

    2) the rate rise from next year, the good news although late…

    3) The fact Alexs reputation is excellent in itself suggests D&G need players of such quality.

    4) D&G have passed concerns to Brandt, already doing something about it.

In my case there are others who will do the work in these areas, remember its 130 invoiced calls a month, which is 3 weeks solid work for one engineer. So this is not about kicking a WP this is about kicking Brandt.

I will confirm to Therese today my intention not to do Brandt calls until all 9 points I have raised are put right. On the question of support, now’s the perfect time to test it. Jason and Phil as members of this room, can if they choose, say no to any advance from D&G, but more importantly they can publish here, that advance. This allows us all to see how this unfolds and perhaps learn from whatever the outcome. Kens idea of a pack of cards really only needs 3 of us here in South Yorkshire.

The mistakes with MFI have been learnt by myself. The NESN action against me was a prelude to the same action against against a few of you……but this is a completely different scenario. The staff at D&G are honourable and trustworthy, unlike what remains at NESN. The action 3 of us take now, with support from the rest of the pack, is much more of a subtle approach, it can and just might work.

I was approached by Maple whe they where initially looking for agents and to date have had no problems. Rates are excellent, payment is excellent you normally receive a cheque back within ten days and if you work with them you build a good working relationship.

When they were setting up their network I forwarded names of DASA members in the areas they were requesting hopefully a number of you have benefitted?

I agree in principle with your ideas and the motives are for the right reasons. BUT you need a lot more support than what you have in the WR. What you are talking about is much along the same lines as what happened 18 months ago between NESN MFI and a very close group of Service Providers. A number of us went out on a limb to create better working conditions for all the MFI service Agents nationwide. We thought we were organsied and united in our aims . Three of us got hung out to dry at the time. .remeber the calls Kev
Yes the end result has been worth waiting for but the time inbetween was not much fun for any of us.

Whatever you decide to do you need committentment and strong solidarity from more than a handful of people. You need to involve more of the larger service providers across the country to get there support and then have a large voice with the work provider

    Re: Hoover TV630 Tumble Dryer

    impressive response

i have just checked this, then shorted it out for a brief test of the machine.

    works fine.

being a tight bugger, is it possible to obtain the correct thermal fuse (or the ratings)?

    Thanks
